its a weird world where we want fighters who die on their shields but trainers who quit for them. had kelly himself quit- you guys would have called him a coward and a quitter and never forgave him. yet the coach is the guy thats meant to do that on his behalf? you can say thats his job- but its a tough line to navigate.
That's what constitutes a Champion. When the going get tough, you get tougher... You don't quit or "Throw in the towel" in a fight like that.
double-jab jack has a huge ego, and really wanted to win the fight. towel definitely should've been thrown in.
I won't dispute that at all. It is a tough line to navigate, but it does come with the job description. The corner has to make that kind of call because, as you've said (and I agree), the fighter himself is the one who gets called the quitter and the coward if they bow out of the fight even if it is for a legit reason.
Loew thinks Pavlik is the best in the world at the weight. When he sends Pavlik back out there it is because he thinks the kid can still win. I don't see how it is any different to Dundee sending Ali back out against Liston when he had been effectively blinded. In fact maybe not as bad because Liston could actually have ****ing killed Ali whereas Martinez is a little less heavy hitting.
Lederman's card doesn't mean a bout should keep going because Pavlik might pull off an Ali v. Liston I. Whenever you agree with his card or Atlas's fight plans, you should seriously reconsider your scoring. When the doctor asks what coagulants you're using and you don't know, then you've got no right to send your fighter back out. If Martinez was a finisher, Pavlik would still be there looking for his eyebrows.
You calling someone a moron ? Or a dumbass ? :rofl:rofl:rofl At least Boo went into hiding after he got embarrassed and isn't jerking off all over the forum.
