Holy **** I was saying the same thing! Do you have to be an amazing cutman to know that a cut needs some vasoline after it's pressed asnd treated? WTF?

Even if they were caused by an accidental headbutt, it is still part of the fight. If you are inherently prone to getting cut up, overcome that **** and fight your way out and also get someone who can deal with said cut. Still all comes down to Pavlik.

No inside game and he's a two punch puncher. He still has ZERO left hook, body punching skills, uppercuts.....A more experienced trainer would have been working on this stuff instead of constant 1-1-2s all the time.

Martinez has a history of having stamina issues in fights, so it would be logical for him to slow down at some point during the fight. The things that Martinez did at the end, he was also doing at the start, just on a lesser scale because Pavlik still had a desire to win early in the fight. Once his heart went, Martinez stepped on the gas and battered him.

I think the cut played a part, they always do, but Pavlik didn't have any answer to that type of fight. If you throw before Pavlik and keep moving, he has no answer, it's that simple. Martinez knew this and kept using this, apart from the rounds where he slowed down.

Nah. A head butt is different. That cut clearly affected Pavlik with seeing. If that was caused by a head butt martinez deserves no credit for that.

But Martinez clearly and cleanly opened it himself causing the damage legal.

martinez fought great but Pavlik was starting to land and land a lot. Only once that cut hit did it change.

Either way, the cut was clean, Pavliks cut man sucks.

Martinez fought a great fight. A rematch is in order. :good

there wasnt a whole lot martinez threw towards the end that wasnt landing. kelly couldnt see what was coming. that is not a position you want to be in when facing a quick counter puncher like martinez. it pained me to see kelly get battered like that as the fight got into the latter rounds but that's boxing.

    Totally agree.

It was actually surprising how much damage was done to Sergio's eye the few times that Kelly actually landed. Who know's what rounds 10-12 would've looked like had he had a better cutman.

Guys that attack at angles will always give him trouble. Even in the second Taylor fight he had a lot more trouble than in the first because Taylor didn't come at him straight ahead.

When guys come right at him Pavlik is really hard to beat. Unless he can figure out how to expand his game a bit he's always going to be vulnerable to slick guys like Hopkins or Martinez.

What a douche. There is a classy way to handle business and then there is **** like this.

If not happy with they guy, fire him quietly and move on. Pavlik's cut man did his best and was probably as upset as anyone with the outcome of the fight. He doesn't deserve to be thrown under the bus publically like this.

What a bull**** excuse. Pavlik was Middleweight Champion of the World going into this fight and they can't even get a decent cutman in his corner?? Sums up Pavlik and his semi professional set up. Only himself to blame.

Starting to land, yes, but the key word is "starting". In the opening rounds, Martinez was looking like he would shut Pavlik out because he had figured him out so easily. Pavlik did cone back during the middle rounds but at the end of the fight, Martinez resorted to the same tactics as earlier in the fight, threw harder punches, moved more and was effective yet again.

I think, because of how similar the first and last 4 rounds were, you can put the middle 4 down to Martinez just preserving his stamina so he could finish strong and avoid another dubious decision.

He boxed great and has Pavlik figured out. Cut or no cut, he wins but I think the cut just slightly exaggerated his dominance in the final third.
