I see a number of posters expressing great confidence. Seems Unjustified considering most of us have never seen Lopez fight. His record is padded, but at some point every fighter needs to step up to better competition. Sometimes those fighters succeed in shocking the **** out of us. He does have some distinct advantages. First he is fully acclimated to the weight. Second, he throws nice straight punches in bunches. That's important because it is hard to catch Pavlik flush with big looping shots, but he has always been susceptible to straight fast punches. There is very little Lopez video available, but based on what little I've scene, I'd say he's really open to left hooks and straight rights. That's important because although Kelly's favorite weapon is a 1-2, his second favorite weapon in undoubtedly the 3-2. A review of Lopez's record leads one to believe he has never had his chin checked. Just because it hasn't been checked doesn't mean it isn't any good. One thing I think we can count on Kelly for is THE CHIN CHECK! If this kid's chin passes the initial test, boys, we've got a fight on our hands!
i wish he went with hopkins advice.. Kelly Pavilk reverts to Islam and will be known as Kalil Rahman..trains under Bro Nazeem! White America has a heart atttack!
As soon as I read boo's title, I knew the opponent was going to be bad. :rofl Lopez is a little better than I expected, but he has yet to face a top 100 opponent. Pavlik should win by KTFO.
It sure didn't take long for the moronic haters to show up. A year ago Kelly Pavlik was a middleweight who lost his title, got his face shreaded, suffered an injury, and spent 2 months in a hard core rehab center. By the time fight night rolls around KP will have been inactive for over a year. In his very first fight back he CHOSE to face an undefeated light heavyweight with a 76% KO ratio. If that's not gutsy enough for you, maybe you should go do something really courageous yourself; like stick your pecker in a blender!
i said it before and ill say it again, if half of old kelly showed up, he destroy lopez within 5 rounds
Probably Martinez by a fairly wide UD. He'd have to play keep away all night because of a huge size and strength disparity, but he could probably pull it off.
Haters are gonna hate. I think the caliber is spot on for the comeback, a hungry unbeaten kid who's coming for the win, but nothing too dangerous too early. I'm sure Kelly will get the win if everything is all right.
