Kelly Pavlik's next fight is tentavively scheduled for June 7, 2008. The first possible opponent we heard for Pavlik was middleweight contender John Duddy. This fight would be on regular HBO and Arthur Abraham would be on the undercard to recieve some exposure in the US, and also help promote a future showdown between the two middleweight warriors. On the other hand, words have been flying slowly, but surely from Pavlik's promoter, and Trinidad's promoter to make this fight happen. If this fight were to happen it would be at the middleweight limit of 160lbs, and Pavlik's Championship would be at stake, as it would in the Duddy fight. The Pavlik-Trinidad fight would be a PPV event in which Arum would put Ivan Calderon, and Juan Manuel Lopez on the undercard to attract the hispanic public, before the puertorican day parade the next day.

Now i would like to know what the fans think of this, and what would be the best scenario for June 7th. Kelly Pavlik and Abraham on the same card on regular HBO, or Pavlik fighting what remains of the puertorican Legend in Trinidad in a PPV event? To me it seems pretty obvious that the HBO card would be better for the boxing fans, but then again, today's world does revolve around money, and not that I'm a business expert in boxing, but i think there would be a lot more money involved in a Trinidad fight. Please let me know what you think. ;)

And for those of you interested here is my source of information,

i would want to see Trinidad beat a top 15 middleweight to prove he deserves a shot at the title, but realistically this fight is just a money-making exercise

if he fights Duddy as a voluntary defence followed by another title holder (eg Abraham) i will be satisfied

I think the public would be satisfied with either fight.

It doesn't matter whom Pavlik is fighting - it's going to be exciting regardless.

Calzaghe does not have the guts to face someone as dangerous as Pavlik. If he beats Hopkins, which I expect him to do, look for him to face Clinton Woods (if he gets by Tarver), in a big money UK fight. If not Woods, perhaps RJJ. I hope his pride takes over and he makes the mistake to fight Pavlik. Then he can finish his career on his back.

I really dont see why he wouldnt have the guts to face Pavlik, to me it seems like Joe Calzaghe would dominate Pavlik without any serious problems.

Winky that would be a good fight. Winky V pavlik.

  9. Pavlik wants Tito and vice-versa, for June, i like Pavliks schedule of fighting every 4 or 5 months:good most big name fighters only go in the ring 1 or maybe 2 times a year..
    BTW Pavlik ko 6 Tito..:hi:

Papa Trinidad has already ruled out any Tito fights below 170 pounds so probably we'll see the Pavlik-Duddy exciting massacre and Pavlik-Abraham in the 2nd half of the year.

I hope Abraham will fight on the undercard but there's already a fight announced for Arthur for March 29 and there's too little time until June 9 unless Abraham will prepare for Ayala as a tune-up fight - as Ayala is nothing more than a tune-up fighter. So if it's part of the preparations or something, the double-header is a possibility but I'm not sure about that.

agreed, i dont think kelly has the beard to take on joe or kessler or any of the other top 168 pounders, and we havent seen his power at that level either. at 160, id love to see him re-break the jaw of abraham, who i cant stand and in my book is overrated.

i wouldnt mind seeing Pavlik-Tito...it would give Kelly another huge name on his resume but wouldnt do much for his P4P status... however after a win over Tito, Pavlik could go after a fight with Winky Wright. A win over Winky would solidify his spot as a top 5 P4P

I think Winky can make a lot of noise in the middleweight division, to me he just needs to stop trying to make everyone happy and fight to win, i mean, fighting and all out offensive fight against Quartey is good, but when fighting bigger guys like Pavlik, i think the size differencial will make it as exciting as it is, and he should stick to winning the fight convinvingly.

Sure, why not. Let's see Tito get KTFO. It's sad that this guy keeps getting big money fights based on PAST reputations though. Pavlik might kill Tito.
