I haven't seen a fighter get to a big stage like that and freeze before.

Looked extremely slow, flat and fatigued.

Most 168 top 10 fighters could have beaten him on saturday night.

Recent memory must not mean in the last week, because Peter was worse against Vitali.

Blame it on Hopkins' peaks and valleys. People don't seem to be understanding how much underperforming his last time out, the criticism, and the doubt, drove Hopkins to step up a level apart. Witout his last showing there couldn't have been this showing. Hopkins went out of his way to make a statement. To push hard.

the most humiliating fight was Mayweather - Gatti.

Pavlik - Hopkins wasn't that bad after all.
It was similar to Jones - Trinidad.

Tarver was equally bad against Hopkins.

    Actually, probably worse.

I have to agree that Sam Peter's fight against Vitali was probably the most dissapointing, frustrating and unmotivated championship fight I have seen in at least the last 15 years. I mean, Peter didn't even seem to try to adjust to the fight or try anything new. Just horrible.

Peter was terrible, but I still have to go with Seldon's performance against Tyson.

    I agree.

Take nothing away from Bernard. Bernard didn't freeze and the anticipation did not get to him.

But Pavlik's undoing was also not all Bernard. He froze and I have a masters of sports psychology degree and this is not uncommon for less experienced athlethes. They tense up on the day of the fight and the nedia etc. stresses them. Then when the bell goes they are already tired, mostly mentally.

Pavlik will probably 'grow out of' this as he gets more experienced.

What the thread starter and this idiot are failing to realize / acknowledge is that a boxer doesn't really have off nights or "underperform". These professionals have been training for months with one target in mind, they don't just underperform on the night, they get beat, by a better man.

Admit it. Boxing isn't a sport with excuses. All credit due to the winner.

Is that why Calzaghe has been crying about how he "didn't look his best" against Hopkins? Is that why Calzaghe has been making EXCUSES throughout his career to explain away bad performances? Eh, ****ing idiot? You're a stupid ****ing ****, aren't you? Dumb mother****er.

Woods against tarver was pretty bad. I expected woods to fight him a lot better.
