All good but he shouldn't be planning another victory party before the rematch ..Its a good thing to be confident but not a good thing to overlook him ..

First I will qualify what I have said and what I am going to say. To date Kelly has shown an excellent ability to adjust to an opponent's game plan. To have a good game plan and the ability to execute it. To have an excellent trainer. And the ability to execute in-fight instructions from his trainer. This is more food for thought then a prediction of a Taylor win:

My favourite quote is "Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.". In the last fight Taylor was trying to get back to basics before the fight. A fighter has to be proactive and get rid of bad habits before the little fights so that when the big fights come along he already has the little stuff sorted. Thus, it was clear to me that Taylor was going to battle hoping to win. If Taylor has somehow found the ability to mentally over come what happened in the last fight he is in a good position to enter the ring a much improved fighter. He knows now what Pavlik brings, that he can beat him, and what he has to do to be victorious. In other words he knows what he has to do to "win first" and he'll have the motivation to do it.

You win a war by being prepared to fight the next war not the last one. I don't think that Pavlik has been lazy in his training or has lacked focus. What I meant was that I don't think he's capitalized enough on his opportunity to take away all chances of a Taylor win. In reading his comments and watching his interviews it seems clear to me that they have spent most of their preperations preparing for the same Jermaine Taylor that showed up last time. Why bother? You already know how to beat that guy. What happens if Taylor effectively blocks Kelly's jab? The punch from which almost all of Kelly's offense is set up. Howmany rounds does it take for Kelly to adjust? What happen's if Taylor picks his shots and is effective at controlling the distance? Is Kelly prepared for a Jermain that doesn't move in straight lines? I would spend half the time preparing for all the different styles or tactics that jermain could employ in this fight. Probably won't be a different fight. And it probably won't come back to bite Pavlik. But I'd feel better if Kelly was making comments like "we've prepared for whatever jermain taylor shows up." This "Jermain can't help being Jermain" stuff makes me wonder if he's prepared for a Jermain that can.

Sounds like some people are getting paranoid, not necessarily you, o-money. BTW, good post. Team Pavlik isn't overlooking a damn thing & Kelly is no fool. He's been busting his ass just as hard as JT. Its difficult for a zebra to change their stripes. Things will not be much different than the 1st fight. And like you said, Kelly has the advantage to be able to adapt during a fight, where as Taylor pretty much is what he is.

And I will certainly keep that in mind. Funny you say that, because just yesterday I emailed someone in Morgantown that I haven't seen or talked to in 33 freakin' years! made me a bit home sick for those old country roads...

I'm heading out tomorrow morning. At the fight, look for a guy wearing an "I Love Larry Merchant" hat. That's me. I hope to be close to the ring.

Also, just read in the Vindicator that the fight has moved so PittFan is correct. Don't go to the Bellagio for the after-party.
