I have never felt comfortable betting against Hopkins, the dude is just bad, but Pavlik will bring the pressure and Hopkins has to wear down. I mean, he has to right?

Very active in a Hopkins perspective but not really that busy if compared to guys like Calzaghe, Pavlik and Margarito...

Hopkins has started slowing his pace down over the years..mainly starting with the Howard Eastman fight !!

OH GOD NO! It was a split decision. Let's not start trying to make out that Calzaghe RUINED Hopkins.......

I just saw this fight for the first time recently and was shocked to see Winky lunging and swinging. Don't expect the same from the poor old slow, plodding Pavlik.

Then why do they state he fought at 170?, I openly admit that I don't know much about Pavlik's early career, only started to follow him from the Miranda fight onwards.

His record on boxrec states he was very close to it in two fights, especially his fight with Olds which was 169 for him and 170 for Olds, meaning the fight was at 170. I know you are going to say that Bernard is no Olds, trust me I haven't joined boxing 2 days ago to need you to tell me that but as you asked if he fought at that weight before or not I'm just stating he did based on his record on boxrec.

Boo already stated he hurt both hands. It was his first time out after he won the title. He still out boxed Taylor. It may have been a better win than the first bout. Don't under estimate what having the money to be a true FULL TIME BOXER has done for him either. He really trains hard. He has been working hard on his defense. Don't expect him to be fat, slow and lazy at 170. It isn't like he will be putting weight on for this fight. He will be training just as hard without the weight loss aspects.

I agree with all this. I also believe Hopkins will make Pavlik miss more than he is used to early. However, I do not think this will last for six rounds. I believe Pavlik's jab is very underrated and will start to find the mark early. This will set up right hands that will increasingly land with authority. Also, if Pavlik going down against Taylor in the first fight did not discourage him, Hopkins making him miss a bit will not either.
