Pavlik's TKO % is 90.6

  1. I hadn't noticed this until now whilst doing some research on the 2nd fight with Taylor, that's a really impressive rating. Basically 9 out of every 10 fights he's in he knocks his opponent out or technically stops them. He also has a 100% win ratio.

Jermain Taylor in comparison has a 58.6% knockout rating and a 93% win rating.

When you take this into account it's hard to see Taylor winning however Pavlik may be going into this rematch over confident (maybe) plus Taylor will come in with either two states of mind; a negative one because of his prior knckout giving Pavlik the edge or a more determined one given the fact he lost and wants redemption.

Personally I see this fight two ways:

Pavlik wins via a knockout or Taylor wins on points - I really don't see any variation on this.

Taylor always keeps his left hand low. Pavlik can tag him with pretty much anything that he can throw. Even if at the start of the fight he keeps his hands up better Taylor will not be able to deal with Pavliks work rate and power and will start to drop his hands and then Pavlik KO's him again.

Taylor is a different fighter to Pavlik who is a pressure fighter whereas Taylor is more of a boxer - puncher. Also I would perhaps say that Taylor has fought at a higher level than Pavlik. Last time I thought Pavlik would outwork Taylor who can looked lethargic and uninterested in previous outings. However, this time I think he will outbox Pavlik and win a hard fought decision.

Its hard for me to envisage JT winning, unless its a comletely different JT. He has so many fundamental flaws, like 196osh said, his left hand dangerously low, has shite stamina, has even worse boxing brain, but hey, Pavlik aint no complete fighter either, but JT needs to come in to the fight with something completely different, otherwise its the same result

Taylor may win rounds but a win on points? Not with the discrepancy in stamina and Pavliks relentlessness. Taylor's best chance is an early charge for a KO, but I don't think he has the mental strength to do it. Pavlik is capable of excecuting a gameplan to perfection and to follow instructions from his corner immediately. Taylor will never have this kind of mental strength and coolness, Pavlik by KO again.

Exactly. Taylor is just flawed. Also he has the

I have ever had the misfortune of seeing.

**** sake, If I had Pavlik in that stituation I would have worked out that an uppercut was in order. How Taylor never figured it out is completely infathomable.

Pavlik wont stick his chin out to get hit this time, he never did that after round two in the last fight either and therefore Jermaine is screwed.

Stats are meaningless unless you take into account quality of opposition.

Joey Abell is a HW with a 94% KO percentage. Joel Julio is 94% as well at Jr. MW. Neither are top-10 though.

He needs to sharpen up his defense, be a lot smarter with his head and i give him a good chance of taking back the titles.

He has all physical tools to be a really good fighter.

    Yeah I agree.

If he tightens up his defense it will go a long way in covering up some flaws which i see in him ie. at times he gets lazy and just seems to stop thinking. I hope he can improve in this area.

Pavilik was nearly knocked out by someone with a 58.6% KO rate? Well, there goes the "Pavlik has an iron chin" argument. Still, his KO rating is very impressive.

Good finishing ability + vulnerable chin = ridiculously entertaining fighter

You can be sure Pavlik has some FOTY candidates/winners to come in his career.
