Did anyone expect Kelly Pavlik to say, "The guy who lost to Carl Froch is going to beat the guy who pounded on me for 12 rounds" -- seriously?
I have to say, yes to crowd will be hostile as much as we used to. But I've been in the press conference in Quebec city. And I don't know if it's because they were two legends in the same place which is DLH and B-Hop or the fact it was their first apperance down here. But I could assure you, there was something special in that romm this day and I guess everyone will agree with that. Like I said before we could hear a bug flying when Hopkins made his statement. I felt in that room alot of respect for the man, for Mr Hopkins. And I'm sure he felt that as well. And whether you like him or not, there's an aura around the man. And I'm sure when Hopkins will step to the ring with Pascal, he will remember that day. Cause that day, he grew 2 inches and realised for the first time of his life. How his name was to the boxing in Canada, how intidimating he could be even if he acts like a gentleman. After the press conference, Golden and B-Hop were making interviews. And all I was thinking about as a fan was, I'd like to wish best of luck to B-Hop and Golden for brought their crew here, putting a great show and acting with true class. I could just take a picture with em, but it was stronger, I had to thank Oscar that for the fight and for everything. All this despite I'm a Pascal's fan and behind him 110%!!! Finally, Hopkins will be in his first time in a ring outside from U.S but this night will be special. I really hope Pascal wins, but I have to say Hopkins seems smart but also a special man. There I am with Oscar De la Hoya, that day handshaking him, here's the link of me in the quebec boxing forum. http://www.lazonedeboxe.com/Mbbs2/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20570&start=26&posts=34
the truth about this fight is that hopkins is on borrowed time in a big way, but because he's such a terrific defensive fighter in the ring (and is a much better fighter period than pascal will ever be) it's pretty hard to write him off just yet. a tito, oscar or a jones doesn't have this kind of longevity because they need their aggression to make them who they are. that's a bad tradeoff once you get 'old'. hopkins has been very impressive with his longevity, and i'll be very impressed again if he wins this. but i don't think he will.
