MMA was his original calling. He was a wrestling champ and started Boxing to work on his stand up game in preperation for MMA but stuck with Boxing because he liked it. Yeah he was B level no doubt but also made it fairly far in Boxing for someone who started so late in life.
Notice how he says octogan. If he gives it a real go then he has as good a chance, if not better, than anyone. Good chin, well conditioned, high level boxing, high school level wrestling and a willingness to learn.
Might be reading too much into it. Lots of people just refer to the sport as "UFC" rather than MMA, like calling all tissues "Kleenex". I'm sure lots of people say octagon not realizing it's a registered trademark of one single branded org and not a catch-all synonym for "the cage". Maybe even some pro fighters. :yep
But he won't have the best boxing. His "skill" was to keep on coming, even while getting the crap beat out of him. Evidently, he got a lot of points for that.:yep
