Yeah, it's debatable that Calzaghe is actually better than prime James Toney. Hell, I think prime James Toney would've beat prime Calzaghe.

Maybe it's because Roy Jones is more gifted and talented than both Calzaghe and Dawson?

Roy didn't beat a Hopkins in his prime, he was still progressing as a fighter. Watch Hopkins-Johnson and than watch his fight with Roy, you will see a totally different fighter in Hopkins. Hopkins was much more aggressive in the Johnson bout, just flat out brutal. I think Hopkins was in his prime around 96-03.

Joe Calzaghe is the best supermiddleweight of all time over Roy Jones Jnr and James Toney in terms of resume.

I wonder how the Americans swallow that one.

    That is very debatable, beatboxer.

Toney did defeat a still live Barkley, Tim Littles, and Charles Williams.

Jones beat Toney, who many considered the best supermiddle ever.

I'm not saying Calzaghe's is worse, it is on par. Minus Jones having someone like Toney to beat. His is much longer than Toney's or Jones, and that should count for something.

All in all, I still give Jones the best ever at this weight because of his victory over Toney. It is not Joe's fault he didn't have a Toney to fight, I am not penalizing him. I just can't reward him.

Well considering Jones spent pretty much no time at SMW, you are correct. But Jones was one of the greatest LHWs of all time and H2H is a beast for any fighter (in his divisions) EVER. That includes Calzaghe.

    Close fight

I'm going to watch some RJJ videos on YouTube, and then further research using my collection of Joe Calzaghe DVD's

I will report back with my conclusion

The ironic thing is that 14 years after Jones beat him, Calzaghe is still *****-footing around about stepping up to face Hopkins - and people think Calzaghe could hang with prime Jones? :nut

Which is why he's still to-ing and fro-ing about fighting a guy that Jones owned 14 years ago, obviously :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Calzaghe does NOT have an iron chin, an iron chin is the level of Oliver McCall. Calzaghe has a good chin but it's not iron. Jones would have KO'd him at 168.
