That's what I'm trying to say

People are obsessed with names. They have to be ****ing American to qualify as names and all

Look at this mans boxing skill, his heart, unbeaten for two decades. Beat off the best competition at his weight, and ducked by a so called 'great' across the pond

I'm American and it's true, non-American fighters are not going to get the respect they deserve. Kessler demolished everyone in his path up to Calzaghe, but is dismissed as average? Nobody in the US called Lacy an 'average' fighter leading up to his humiliation at the hands of Calzaghe. Only after. Why? Because he's an American fighter. Kessler's accomplished much more but didn't get half the press and respect that Lacy got. Imagine if Lacy had won the fight with Calzaghe. He'd be written about by the US fans and press as the second coming of Sonny Liston.

Sugar Ray Leonard also says in his book, that he thinks Calzaghe is the best fighter in the world today, one of the best he's ever seen. And when asked by Michael J Fox who would win between the 2 he says Calzaghe.

Actualy boxing experts rate Calzaghe. Its idiot American boxing fans who dont.

Better defence, better footwork, better ring generalship, better mentality, better stamina and better chin.:good

But by comparison, since Taylor did 24 rounds with a past it Hopkins, if Kessler had dominated Hopkins and KOed him in 8 rounds, Hopkins would have been shot and Kessler still doesn't matter like people thought Taylor did.

If Calzaghe was American he'd be P4P no1

So what does Joe have to do to qualify as 'great' in the eyes of spastic yanks

What if he beat Taylor and Pavlik? It makes me laugh people think these would beat Kessler, nevermind Joe Calzaghe

Can't force Hopkins to get in the ring...

What if he had fought RJJ at his peak, and lost?

How and Why? What would be said of Floyd Mayweather if he took a fight with Alfonso Gomez? If Bernard Hopkins fought Codrington? Floyd got **** and bashed for fighting Baldomir and Judah for ****s sake   He was getting criticized for fighting the "undersized Hatton" and not going after the big Welters :deal Calzaghe takes a fight with Peter Manfredo and then FINALLY steps up and does what he is supposed to do and beats a respectable opponent, and he is annointed P4P King????????? :huh :patsch :nut :yikes :bart

Pay attention you race-driven little ****head, stop bringing nationality into it because it has nothing to do with it. Sergio Mora beat Manfredo twice, and we're not trying to put him above Sugar Ray Robinson!

Calzaghe never beat a great fighter, its that simple. If you want to down play anyones wins you can if you want to, you could easily say Joe beat a washed up old Eubanks, or an over hyped one demensional fighter in Lacy, even Kessler showed alot of weaknesses fighting Calzaghe. I seen many opertunities were Calzaghe left himself vulnerable and Kessler couldnt pull the trigger, he also seemed very hurt from a body punch were he looked to want to take a knee.

Im not saying Joe isnt a good fighter, but he needs a great on his resume before anyone could him a great himself. Anyone could compile 40 some wins without losing if he's fighting less than stellar competition, the giant Valuev had what like 46 wins in a row before he lost to Chagaev. Its who you beat that makes you great in my opinion.

He gave up his belt to fight Manfredo because HBO told him too, to boost his profile in the US so hes more known to the public. Just count that fight as an exhibition.

Stop bringing up Manfredo all the time.

When fighters like Kessler and Lacy win more in the future, people will respect those wins a lot more. Like people are doing with Bika now. Everyone on here was laughing that Calzaghe fought Bika. Now with a few good wins under his belt, its looking like a good win for Calzaghe, now nobodys laughing.

I'd love it if Kessler fought Taylor and Pavlik in his next 2 fights, he'd be favourite to win both. Then Yanks would say, well maybe Kessler wasnt nobody.

    Boxing pollitics man. **** it.

    Joe Calzaghe...

a very good boxer...the best in The U.K....

spent his career in non competitive, step child division...that and his lacking resume hinder his "greatness"...

With his win over Kessler, he cracked the Top 100 of All Time and is realistically #6 P4P right now in The World..

So...Joe Calzaghe...a damn good boxer who possibly could have been so much more...
