Whenever I defend Haymons actions he somehow turns around and does some worst ****. He has the WBC sowed up, just like HBO has the WBO, all is fair. Now he is trying to work the WBA who's credibility as a governing body is getting less by the month. WBA President Gilberto Mendoza Jr. has told ESPN Deportes that Premier Boxing Champions has submitted a request for Danny Garcia vs. Robert Guerrero to be for their soon-to-be vacant 'super' welterweight world title. The WBA has announced that they will be formally removing Floyd Mayweather as their 'super' champion at welterweight and junior middleweight at the end of the month, paving way for the request. The WBA has, however, decided to deny the PBC's request -- indicating their preference of having only two champions in the division. It's expected that Keith Thurman, currently the WBA's regular' champion, will be promoted to 'super' champion with David Avanesyan, currently the WBA's interim welterweight champion, being promoted to 'regular' champion. In the junior middleweight division, Erislandy Lara is expected to be promoted to 'super' champion, with Jack Culcay expected to fill Lara's void as 'regular' champion. So it appears the WBA isn't going to allow Danny Garcia (who is the heavy favorite to beat Robert Guerrero) to take easy street to a major welterweight title -- at least not yet, anyways. And it's probably better this way, particularly since I can't imagine that Keith Thurman, who like Garcia is advised by Al Haymon, would take kindly to him advocating for Garcia to leapfrog him as champion.
Good, Garcia's had enough gifts in his career without gifting him a welterweight title on top of it. Let him fight Thurman if he wants it instead of a shot to shit Guerrero, see how far he gets.
