to be fair haymon caused the problem of he's fighters not wanting to have hard fights by over paying them for terrible fights

to put this into perspective gary russel jr made 800,000 fight Paulie Hyland jr, i don't even know if hyland would be a top 10 featherweight in britian and ireland, i doubt he is even top 100 in the world

in contrast walters got paid 300k to fight freaking lomachenko

and before anyone says ' well fighters are getting screwed, haymon gets them paid'. No fighters get paid what they are worth, they get paid what they can bring in, thats unless you are a haymon fighter like russell, who is now talking about retirement unless he is getting millions to fight anyone

i think this is the death rattle of pbc imo fighters are either going to leave in their droves or else get used to normal purses for good fights

 

I agree Haymon overpaid his fighters but ultimately I don't give a **** what he paid them because we got free fights and now he's gunna force the best ones to fight each other's which means now we get some more consistent quality match ups.

 

ya but all the decent match ups are on showtime ,not free tv

but i think he has been forced into making good match ups, its not he's choosing, fighters will be made

i can't imagine russell being happy getting paid 800k or less to face a dangerous opponent when he got it to fight a bum

 

I think a lot of good fights will be on pbc this year too with the top ones on showtime.

Whether his forced or he wants to, i don't care long as he does and whether Russell is happy to or not, I don't care long he gets in the ring with top names lol

Well I'm not saying it will happen but if it does you won't catch me complaining.

 

Whether it's showtime or not it's Haymon giving us good fighters I personally don't have a horse in the race so whether it's Hearn, Oscar, Bob or Al if we get good fights that's great news.

Lol if they do then they can kiss bye to the big pay checks.

lol by the law of averages he gave us more good match ups than his competitors so I guess hes still been technically the best of the big promoters.

 

with the resources he had he should have completely destroyed he's competition with good match ups, instead he blew other peoples money and delivered mostly mismatches

now he has a chance to redeem himself

 

Well Bob was once in his position and he never blew away the comp, most of Haymons fighters are Oscars.

Either way none of these promoters are good anymore the best promoter for me was that lying stealing psychopath don king he gave us great fights out of greed.

 

bob was never given a damn bear billion dollar war chest to go and take over the sport with, no one was ever in that postition not even close to it. bob always had to make a profit, haymon didn't, thats the difference.

ya iv always said no matter how terrible of a human being king was from the fans perspective he was probably the greatest promoter ever and put on the most stacked cards of all time

 

I hope this really does come off and continue if it does. Nothing wrong with tuneups as long as they lead to big fights, but tuneup after tuneup with no money matchup in sight, nah. Not anymore, just like everything on TV in today's age you have to put on a compelling product to give the people a reason to watch. That's why UFC does so well, all fighters are under one roof, and the best must fight the best for world title shots.
