PBC going to Amazon with NO guaranteed purses

I'm sure there will.

And I'm sure there will be fighters looking at how many people subscribe to Amazon prime (200 million) and how many subscribe to DAZN (15 million) and think there's an upside to being seen by more people.

Every fighter seeks out opportunities that are best for them.

 

So every card will be ppv? Good luck with that

 

Like every movie or sports event on Amazon Prime, every fight card won't be PPV.

 

Lol. Fighters will go to whoever is prepared to pay them the most money.

200m prime members means little when the deal is pretty much a ppv distribution deal.

It's telling that Amazon are not prepared to actually ink a broadcast deal.

 

It's not just a PPV distribution deal. Everything on Amazon Prime isn't PPV.

Do you have Amazon Prime?

Do you realize you can watch movies and sports on Amazon Prime and not pay for them all individually?

 

I do have Prime but I also know when Amazon have announced sports rights they have acquired the press release from either party actually releases the value of the deal. I don't see that here.

Rick Glazer has been insisting PBC is going out of business for eight years.

In September, he announced they were dead.

Now they have a deal with one of the largest distributors in the WHOLE World and he says ... "um, well it sounds good, but ..."

 

What deal. Again I ask what is the actual value of the deal?

How much is PBC actually getting paid? Do you not find it odd that I even have to ask that?

 

We don't actually know the details yet. Rick G is not objective about this situation at all, but the press release is vague.

It doesn't sound so far like even if there are non-PPVs, there will be very many. Certainly not enough to support the stable of PBC fighters. So we're still caught in the same situation of too many mouths to feed and not enough $ nutrition to go around.

 

I was reading & thinking the same thing man as those 12-14 events won't cover a lot.

 

Yeah & how do Amazon benefit in revenue? just in views alone? how does this work

 

Will this include other countries outside of US/UK with Prime, plus with my Prime you usually have to pay extra for other show/movies so that just means the same as before.

 

Amazon will take a split of the PPV revenues. If they are doing non-PPV shows also, tho, that is a good question. Is PPV boxing going to cause more people to buy Amazon Prime? Seems unlikely. I think that's why people are skeptical that they're going to fund many if any non-PPV shows.

We need more information.

 

Oh wow look at that the Amazon deal was exactly what I said it would be; a distribution-only deal where you only get paid if people actually watch. Amazing, how could I have figured out this totally obscure and unpredictable turn of events?

Whatever; more places to watch boxing is a good thing I suppose, and hey maybe after enough sinking and swimming these dolt fighters will realize that in order to earn these big paydays they want they need to, um, FIGHT!

Just a bigger audience than Showtime. Or ESPN. Or HBO. Or DAZN.

We subscribed to Amazon Prime before the video app existed just so we could get the free shipping for items purchased off Amazon. The app was just a bonus.
