Nothing, nada. https://www.premierboxingchampions.com/ Everyone has heard about Showtime, but it doesn't seem like their other broadcast partners are too busy either. Recently they've had a January 1st card, but not this year apparently. They have some real talent and several belts which are now in stasis. Could this be the death of PBC? Who is going to air their fights?
Who ever it is I hope they learn from HBO and Showtime. Don't sell out to any promotor and pick the fight you are willing to broadcast. PBC killed Showtime with countless **** fight. Anything worth watching was on Showtime PPV.
I'm sure they are holding back a bunch of fights as part of their sales pitch. The first 6-8 months with the new broadcaster probably will be good, then it will level off.
I don’t think it’ll be Amazon. More likely it will be a PPV only deal like FITE TV offers. Why do Amazon want boxing ? They’ve only really got Tank Davis. Hardly going to shift a load of prime subscriptions. They’ve gone one more Showtime date, David Morrell on the 16th December.
Hopefully Amazon turns PBC down and they go with DAZN. Amazon has nothing to earn from PBC and having most promoters working with the same platform will be good for boxing.
Amazon Prime Video has already entered boxing (in Japan). They showed Inoue v Donaire 2. And have been broadcasting all of Tenshin's pro fights (the lower weight young kickboxing who Mayweather beat up on). I think they have done about 6 cards so far It's just content. If PBC can provide regular content at a decent price they will sign them. If they want too much and the viewership isn't there, it won't work
What about Foxtel in America as a home for PBC? Pretty sure PBC will be involved in promoting Tim Tszyu's fight in Las Vegas in early March. They'll certainly be providing the opponent for him - either The Houston Hare or Erickson Lubin.
