Mares is 1/10 at the moment for this bout...seems fair odds but he'll be tested more than those odds will suggest

    Round 4

Reyes is pushing Mares into the ropes, taking combos on the gloves but scoring with rights on the chest behind a double jab. Pawing jab by Mares, clinching as he jumps in. Reyes thumps low and pulls out to reset. Reyes applying intelligent pressure.

    10-9 Reyes

    39-36 Mares

A look at his resume suggests that too. A split decision loss with Montiel, a competitive but clear loss to Hasegawa and a win over Pingo Miranda. Very capable fighter, just lacks the power to really move on a level from being an opponent.

    Round 5

Mares is putting double hook and right on the body combos together. Reyes is waiting his turn, covered up, pushing inside and thrusting stiff jabs and hooking off them, working body shots but not with the conviction or multitude that Mares can manage.

    10-9 Mares

    49-45 Mares

If Reyes had a little more power to his punches, Mares would have be in big trouble tonight.

Mares & Reyes are friends & frequent sparring partners (according to corner reporter Laila Ali), but not acting like it. :bbb

Mares wins the fifth, Reyes edges the sixth.

After six, both fighters have won three, but Mares is still up because of the flash knockdown in the second.

Mares is taking it easy on Reyes because they're buddies, Mares out like a bat out of hell and beat the **** out of poor Ramirez

    Round 6

Mares is jabbing and throwing uppercut and butterfly-net combos together on the backfoot. Reyes isn't getting very close as he swings in with punches in close succession but wide and wild. Mares is hugging the ropes, drawing Reyes in, flicking his left arm to deflect the Reyes overhand right, and countering in light bursts. Reyes keeps throwing hard hooking combos but can't get a bead on Mares' face.

    10-9 Mares

    59-54 Mares

    Purses:

    Mares ½ a million.
    Reyes 20,000.

By the look of it, Mares will be lucky to be headlining shows at the Hawaiian Gardens Casino in a few fights. He may be winning but wow, he's just not the same fighter. And not to discount Reyes but he's clearly not on the level of the top guys @FW.

Well going by THIS thread, and by vBookie (where you squarely bet on Guerrero)......you were wrong. Can't man up, can you??
