Who is even doing the promotion for Morrell-Benavidez?? Tom Browne is the main promoter of these fights but I could barely pick him out of a lineup. Imagine if Hearn was promoting Morrell-Benavidez (with a decent undercard too). He'd be on every Youtube channel, every podcast and sports channel talking about how this a clash of the 2 best young undefeated fighters on the planet. "Its 50/50" "Both can punch" Instead, it feels like no one outside of the hardcore boxing fans even know its on, even though its a top class card. PBC seriously needs to get someone who can actually promote these fights and b build up some hype.
They have destroyed so many boxers career. Big money contracts and then no fight. No fight means no money and career in the gutter.
Yup. PBC barely has any fight dates for their guys, and even Benavidez is inactive. Funny how his name is constantly out there, but he rarely fights. Benavidez´ activity level by year: 2020 - 1 2021 - 2 2022 - 1 2023 - 2 2024 - 1 2025 - 1 scheduled thus far
PBC is essentially dead. I’d love to know how much money they have blown through since its inception.
They should just die off. It´s been all downhill since 2019, and they have killed/derailed dozens of careers. PBC at this point is a net negative to boxing.
Speaking killing careers, people act like PBC fighters would box more often if they fought for Turki. For all the praise he's getting, Turki put on seven shows last year. PBC has two scheduled by March 1 this year. I believe their high water mark was 50 shows in a year. 50! Not seven. 50. Basically, a televised card nearly every week all year. Parker won last March and had to wait a whole year for his next fight, even though he was ready to go. Same with Bakole. He fought once last summer and has to wait until this summer to fight again. They all fight once, twice if they are lucky. And people harp on PBC spending a lot of money over the last decade and not making a profit. I think Turki spent close to a half billion dollars in purses just for Fury and Usyk in 2024 alone. God knows what the tab was for all seven shows combined. How much money do you think they recouped in ticket sales and PPV buys? 10 percent? Less than that? His whole boxing business is a huge operating loss. I'm glad PBC is holding out. Boxing for Turki isn't exactly guaranteeing fighters three or four fights a year. Every industry needs options. Turki isn't exactly prolific when it comes to the number of shows he puts on each year or keeping ANY fighters busy. And he's such a wildcard, it seems this could all go away as quickly as it started.
Agreed. I couldn't pick Tom Browne out of a lineup. Every business needs a spokesperson. Hiding in the shadows only works if you have talkative fighters who can be the face of your organization. And PBC doesn't right now.
The vast majority of fighters who fight on Riyadh cards are also fighting on Matchroom, Queensbury, Top Rank cards at other times during the year. PBC fighters get stuck ONLY fighting on PBC.
