And for those crying robbery, recall a few fights back Burns vs Beltran, which was FAR worse than this (if this can even be claimed as a robbery), what goes around comes around.

I don't see how another awful decision can possibly be seen as a good thing - or justified/validated. Yeah, Burns victory over Beltran was a poor decision and homecooking, whereas this one was the exact same thing. Both are an absolute scourge on the sport. there should never be any pride or gloating in a situation where the winner is robbed.

Two wrongs don't make a right. The fighters go in and put their bodies on the line, Its the dirty promoters, refs and judges who sit on the sidelines and screw the fighters that makes fans angry.

    *gbboxingfeed spot on!

Edit: I mistakenly thought this was for Figueroa's lightweight strap.

Except Ricky didn't win, so no home cooking this time.

Hey CST80 - I am surprised to see you stooping to the levels of winding up the 'Brits' on the forum. I usually agree with a lot of what you say, and you obviously have a lot of deep boxing knowledge, so to see you playing the wind-up merchant in a situation where a gutsy fighter in an obvious b-side situation has been given the short end of the stick despite a brave and crowd pleasing effort in a fight that no one expected him to prevail in, is both a surprise and a disappointment.

The British are a very passionate and proud boxing nation, much like the Mexicans. They just usually have less to celebrate than their central american counterparts - probably another reason why tonights homecooking is so disappointing.

Come on then smart****, lets see your scorecard, and don't just give us numbers, we want to see how you broke the round down.

This should be fun, or should i say this will be a fcukin miracle.

I had it 115-113 without the deductions add them 115-111 for Figueroa.

I'm friends with Slick N Jewish and Serge and most of the other Brits on here, I'm just messing with them, they know I don't like Mitchell or Burns that much. As far as the match goes Burns did far better than many expected but he held too damn much and Omar outworked him in my opinion. It was close no doubt but not a robbery either way it went..

Would certainly have been interesting to see the punch statistics. Figueroa may well have been busy, but for the most part Burns was blocking and muting a lot of his offense - Burns seemed the way more accurate fighter in my book, and I believe he was taking most of the rounds clean. I know that it is subjective as to what the judges are looking for, but watching it on TV it looked like Burns did exactly what he needed to do in that fight. He was never gonna stop Figueroa let's be honest, so he fought the fight that he needed to. Plus, he was fighting Cole in there too - there's no doubt in my mind there.

Such a shame to see a wide points decision in a fight that was unequivocally close. :fire

Agreed - that is what galls me. Not that Burns lost (though I believe that to be a huge shame given the circumstances), but that he lost wide, and after interference from the ref. I was also angry for Beltran, and any time the scorecards make a fight seem less competitive than what it was. Such as the Vargas/Herrera fight - a prospect gets the wide victory over the veteran that is being 'fed' to them...regardless of what the true nature of the fight was.
