Hurd said in the lead-up to his fight with Welborn that he wanted to work on defense in that fight, which was probably the wrong approach to take against a motivated title challenger. I think Welborn was able to jolt him briefly in the 4th, but in doing so I think he work Jarrett up and pissed him off.

I think Hurd takes J-Rock more seriously, and isn't quite as lackadaisical as he was the last time out. Meanwhile, J-Rock appeared a little rattled by Ishe Smith's pressure so I think the consistent pressure of a far bigger guy might grind him down after a while...especially since he occasionally leaves himself open when attacking.

Hurd KO 11 is my pick. This fight should rule, though.

I think Hurd grinds him down late too. But I was just thinking that when you have guys who are stunt men (Rios, Mayorga, Hurd) and use their face as their defense, they can hit the proverbial wall at any time. That could be Hurd tonight, who might come out completely flat.

But the most likely scenario is Hurd by mid-to-late stoppage. I also don't think Williams will take the pressure of Hurd for 12 rounds if Hurd is still the same fighter who beat Harrison and Lara.

True...but I think Hurd has a knack for improving his defense as the fight goes on, which should improve his longevity as a fighter and his chances against J-Rock. But I do like J-Rock, so even though Hurd is one of my favorite fighters I wouldn't be too dismayed if Williams were able to beat him.

@IntentionalButt The Fulton match was untelevised, and is already over. Fulton won by Wide UD.

    Round 1 Korobov 10-9

Matt controlled range well, landed plenty straight lefts and a few right hooks to win first easily. Aleem got slightly buckled early.

Korobov does have some good defense. He parries shots with his gloves as well as anyone IMO.
