Round 2

Salinas is strapping Vue across the eye socket and just above the ear with right hands. Vue is pushing out the jab and trying his damnedest to plant a right hand into the lungs or diaphragm of Salinas, but can't ever quite find him with his feet glued onto the canvas enough to dig in and get leverage. Salinas is controlling range and using Vue like a clay pigeon. Vue marked up in several places all over his face. Exchange before the bell.

I don't think Vue has enough pop, nor Salinas enough chinks in his armor, for the little Hmong man to claw his way back into this. Going to just be a prolonged beating if his chin & stubborn willpower hold up for another 5.5 rounds.

 

Round 3

Salinas is repelling the low duck-and-weave approach of Vue with a falling-axe right hand and steadying jab while shuffling to create space. Vue is faking an overhand right falling in, keeping the right glove pressed tightly against his face, twisting in so his rear shoulder is fully expressed toward Salinas, curling himself into a ball and exposing his broad little backside. Salinas just keeps rolling fist over fist to churn the waters of his moat and keep the waves lapping at Vue's dinghy, keeping it dead in the water.

I want so bad to see Vue just land a lucky 1-punch KO (nothing against Salinas, but Vue is just so plucky you can't help but root for him) but I know that isn't going to happen with Salinas having bought into the "Jack Loew tall guy boxing a smaller come-forward brawler" program to a T...sad.

 

Round 4

Salinas is ripping Vue with looping rights now and just sitting back, letting Vue come to him and do half the work for him. Salinas able to just pivot either way and land hooks with the left and right, then lean in slightly to smother Vue without ever catching any collateral damage. Vue trying to reciprocate but just can't reach. Every time he attacks he's countered and then grabbed and swallowed up in a tight hug or backed up with a lumpy double jab and rolling right hand. Vue getting in a few scratches on the body, but that's it.

Round 5

Salinas plants one looping right after another on the left cheek of Vue. Soaring, sloppy overhand rights by Vue falling in. Left hook by Salinas turning his lead foot and toeing the mat to swivel into the shot from a position just outside Vue's straightforward path of advance. Vue is getting rocked but not dissuaded, or ever badly hurt. Either he's very resilient with a high pain threshold, or running on adrenaline, or Salinas' power isn't as good as the commentators are saying Jack Loew had been hyping it up to be.
