Salinas is now fighting in spurts, potato-sacking in to land directly in front of Vue, leaning into him and shoeshining, laying a lash of a right across his back, and then landing a left hook on the body before backing out. Vue is keeping his guard up, ducking and weaving, blinking away sweat and blood, trying his best to high-hook his way in but falling short & too far south of target. Salinas countering Vue easily but may be tiring a little just from landing so much. Salinas coming a little unglued now, punches growing messier as he falls in and paddles Vue's back. Huge looping right by Vue just before the bell, and Salinas answers with a couple of hooks to finish the exchange but that's the biggest shot he's eating in a few rounds and it changed his facial expression almost imperceptibly..

I think best case for Vue, we're looking at a pyrrhic victory rally here where he wins the last two rounds just because Salinas is so knackered from using him as a punching bag.

 

Round 7

Salinas is landing combos on the head, but without much zip on them, loose-fisted. Vue tries jabbing the body and Salinas drops his own left glove to check it, bouncing Vue's away with a flicking backhand. Salinas is keeping Vue on the outside and bouncing in place to keep the blood flowing. Salinas takes wide steps around Vue, changing directions, stretching his legs, staving off the monotony of repetitious drain by throwing combos from different flanks. Vue never stops trying to square up and send his right hand sailing up top or rip a left hook across the chin of Salinas, though it may as well be all the way back in Laos for how close he manages to get it. A few body shots in the odd scrabble inside by Vue.

Round 8

Salinas is lying in wait, catching Vue with an uppercut. Vue is getting jabbed on the face squatting in front of Salinas and rises up on straightened knees jumping in with a straight right hand lead. Vue is forcing his way in and leading with left hooks, then winging big right hands like a lacrosse stick and missing badly. Salinas is dropping rights on the head as Vue ducks and eats a grazing whip-around right sent from hip to head by Vue.

Ooh...Patty, honey, what did you think you were watching there? This is why women get a bad rap as judges. All of us wanted to give in to the emotional urge to score rounds for Vue, but we all refrained with cooler heads prevailing. (maybe some thought Vue nicked the seventh, but certainly nobody with working eyes found THREE rounds for Vue)
