Yeah, thankfully. I was starting to lose hope that Ramírez had a plan B, and he came through.

 

Round 5

Ramírez is catching Barthelemy with jabs, reaching in past the Cuban's and forcing him to assume less relaxed a posture, abandoning some of that "cool-looking" swagger that Barthelemy seems to be clinging to until he absolutely has to relent, not quite willing to die on that hill, but reluctant to climb down unless it does mean certain death. Ramírez is keeping his chin to his chest, darting in and out, cracking Barthelemy with multiple lefts rushing in all of a sudden. Right hook on the body by Barthelemy breaking free from a clinch. Light jabs by Barthelemy scuffing his feet back and Ramírez lands another left on him while turning him.

Round 6

Ramírez is doubling and tripling his jab up into Barthelemy's face, making him either flee or grab in a wide bear-hug. Barthelemy scurrying outside and loading up on flashy left hands but then admiring his work, getting hit as Ramírez keeps marching in, going up the ladder after poking the body and then rattling jabs and lefts off the head of Barthelemy. Ramírez lands about a dozen unanswered punches. Barthelemy clowning and acting like he's slipping most of them, he's slipping maybe half. Too much bravado from Barthelemy, he isn't as slick as he's pretending. BIG left hand by Ramírez. Barthelemy leans against the ropes and still refuses to put his hands up. Ramírez is doubling his jab, workmanlike, then shoving a left straight into Barthelemy's jaw. Ramírez isn't wasting too much energy, pacing himself, just keeps hitting Barthelemy, who keeps getting more and more cocky acting like none of it hurts. Ramírez isn't trying to KO him, though, just score points and do accumulative damage and he IS doing that.

Barthelemy for the whole arrogant "I'm so much better than you I can just not defend myself for an entire round (when really I'm not half as slick as I think)" attitude, as much as for the haircut, now really deserves to lose.

 

Round 7

Ramírez is seeing Barthelemy's lightly flicked right jabs fall short just a half inch from his face, trying not to flinch, keeping his pace steady, walking forward, slashing across the gap with his left hand and feinting the right jab or extending it in doubles & triples. Barthelemy is kept in retreat, eating jabs with his hands down, then flashing combos while rapidly circling but missing. Ramírez is hitting paydirt with every sortie, landing at least one hook as Barthelemy's instincts circling away prove to include slight miscalculations in judgment of distance. Ramírez is clambering over Barthelemy to stifle a clinch attempt, landing a couple behind the neck.
