Lanell Bellows vs. Antowyan Aikens, 8 rounds @ super middleweight

 

I've never heard of Iceman Aikens. :conf

Of his eleven bouts, all but three have been at home in A.C.

 

Inexperienced foe or not, I'm surprised Ellerbe would put his guy (Bellows) in with somebody that has that good a record (though maybe padded) and with such distinct advantages in height & reach...

 

Round 1

Bellows is advancing, holding up his left arm, sticking a jab from his bicep. Aikens is cradling his front arm low and swinging it, shuffling away. Bellows hooks in and they clinch, Aikens throwing his arms wide around him.

FS1 loses more than a minute of the middle of the round.

44 seconds left when the picture resumes. Bellows still walking Aikens down.

10-9 Bellows, as near as can be told. Feeling out round, nothing happened (even during the lost time, as the audio stayed up and the commentators didn't find anything worth mentioning)

 

Aikens clinches too damn much, and doesn't tuck his chin when backing straight up. Zero sense of how to box tall.

20-18 Bellows

 

Round 3

Hard slide-in jabs and lunging hooks from Bellows clipping Aikens more than he ought to be letting them, jolting him as he retreats. Aikens is circling, arm swinging by his left hip, popping the occasional double jab leaning in and then jerking away. Bellows stuns him with yet another lunging hook. Right hand lead and left hook from Bellows, chasing Aikens into the ropes. Clinch. Bellows puts up his forearms, wrapping them over his skull to block a combo from Aikens. Right hand from Bellows at the bell.

Now I see why. Kid has no "fighter" in him.
