Anthony Dirrell vs. Denis Douglin, 10 rounds @ super middleweight

 

(this is technically at light heavyweight, since Dirrell & Douglin came in ¼lb and ¾lb over the limit respectively )

 

Round 1

Dirrell is taking it easy to start out, working Douglin with the left jab from mid-range. Douglin is reaching with the right jab while circling. Dirrell bangs him late in the round with a looping right as Douglin was coming in for a clinch. Douglin stunned. Dirrell follows up with a minute-long barrage. Douglin showing toughness, getting dinged up.

Round 2

Dirrell is blocking Douglin's flurries on the left forearm. Douglin is scratching the belly of Dirrell with the step-in right hook, keeping a low center of gravity and shoulders hunched up tight. Dirrell is casually jabbing and slapping with a light hook while falling into a seated lean diagonally back and to his left. Dirrell is locating Douglin with the pot-shot left jab at mid-range, taking his time. Nicely timed 1-2 by Dirrell. Douglin is faking with a high line drive right jab and then drilling a left hand in low. Dirrell spots it at the last second and maneuvers his arm to intercept, taking away most of the sting.

I want to see a Dirrell bro get KTFO but I don't think we're seeing it tonight. Douglin is destined to be a nearly-man.
