Yeah, I've always liked him too, and I recall having used to really hate Barthelemy's style for some reason, and remember breathing a sigh of relief when that got changed into a NC but also feeling a bit like we "got away with one" because, again, it could've been called the other way and it wouldn't have exactly been considered a travesty.

...and then of course the SOB went and outpointed him comfortably (116-110 on my card) in the rematch, so even the borrowed time Argenis briefly lived on with the do-over ended up not mattering as those of us that picked him to school Barthelemy still had to eat our words. Very disappointing.

So what's your stance on punching a downed opponent that would have been knocked out anyway like Jones, Bowe, Norris, and Abraham have done? If it's okay to knock someone out after the bell, it's got to be alright to knock them out when they are already down. Or how about when Holyfield lost the gold knocking his opponent out on the break?

Again, down to a case by case judgment call. There are times when it was clearly an intentional late hit (like Barrera on Márquez) but the perpetrator gets off with a relative slap on the wrist, and times when it was quite obviously incidental (see Humberto Soto vs. Francisco Lorenzo) but they get the book thrown at them with a harsh DQ.

Abraham on Dirrell was blatant IMO, even though Dirrell probably did over-sell it for his part.

There's some real gray areas in this sport. This kind of reminds me of the time after a headbutt Rigondeaux faked touching gloves with that dude and then knocked him out with a sucker punch and the time Mayweather sucker punched Ortiz to win by KO while Ortiz was apologizing to him for his headbutt. Unsportsmanlike conduct came head to head with protect yourself at all times.

You know, I only watched the first three or so rounds of Barrera vs Marquez. As much as it gets talked about, I need to finish watching that fight.

It wasn't the best fight ever, but it was historically important considering the role both played in that era in their weight range, and it was a long overdue and hotly anticipated meeting of ATG contemporaries past their primes but with neither fully shot, and, end of the day it was a good (again, not great) technical battle of two wizards of the craft who both fought with a lot of pride and emotion on the night.

    Yea, for me too

Did they actually say this dude had 15 fights in Mexico " without gloves, without rules, underground fights "

    I think I heard that

If thats the case, no wonder his name is Peligroso and he's tough as F

    Yep.....street fighting
He is a non stop come forward pressure fighters. I was amazed at how he never once took his foot off the gas.
As far as SC goes I said it during the fight that his cousin (LSC) must not care for his safety to have matched him with Torres. The inside uppercuts alone would make fighters pass on Torres

Redkach was ripped off by the judges and esp. the damned criminal referee!
