PBC on FS1: Miguel Vazquez vs Erick Bone RBR

Snappy left hooks down and up by Figueroa. Of course this is low level, but he seems a harder puncher than his brother! Tall for a bantam so he's able to dig in and get his body into punches.

 

Nieves getting inside and forcing Figueroa to fight a bit. Figueroa does well when he steps out of the clinch to find punching leverage. He let Nieves keep it a brawl too much in round 2. But 2-0 Figueroa.

 

Nieves sticking to boxing on the outside now. Lands lead rights easily. Getting too confident when lands and follows up with winging shots, opening himself up, but outlanding Nieves as he does. Omar wants Brandon to go after him, says he's in great condition. Great body shot by Figueroa. Punishing round by Figueroa.

 

I like Brandon Figueroa's style, but his technique needs some fine-tuning. I like how taller guys get more leverage into those body punches, and he loves going to the body. 4-0, obviously

 

Body shot puts Nieves down! Looked on the cup line.

 

Put him down again with body shots, and this time Nieves can't get up.

 

Great job by Brandon finishing him. Landed upstairs to bring Nieves hands up, then unloaded with a right and left on Nieves open body, sucked the wind out of him, and crumpled him to the floor.

Looks like this is going to conflict exactly with Mosley-Avenesyan

 

I don't see how Bone takes this. He gave Porter good work, but Vazquez has better wheels than Porter, and Vazquez has better punch selection so should be able to exploit Bone's defensive vulnerabilities.

 

Vazquez working the jab, setting the pace, but boxing on the front foot. Vazquez getting off first and last with jabs, and keeping his distance. Nothing too significant landed, but a Vazquez round. 1-0.
