Jonathan Guzmán vs. Danny Aquino, 10 rounds @ super bantamweight

 

I've seen Guzmán fight live in person, he really is packing TNT.

 

Round 1

Aquino is staying outside, jabbing the body while bent over with his face by his waist, and then withdrawing and tossing a long right hand for cover fire. Guzmán is patiently circling and observing for a weakness. Guzmán starts to dial in a hard left hook on the jaw while invading Aquino's space from side angles. Guzmán throws a pull-counter right past Aquino's 1-2 and steps in to land a hard left hook.

Round 2

Guzmán is throwing nice long jabs from outside, smoothly following up with right crosses and left hooks, backing Aquino up. Aquino down hard early off a left hook! Guzmán is swarming him, throwing hard clubbing shots, but smothering himself a bit. Aquino hunches over and tries grabbing on. Aquino is muscled into the ropes and pounded on the upper back. Aquino puts on earmuffs and remains slouched over. Aquino tries straightening up and trading with Guzmán but eats a short right hand. Aquino is staggered out of the pocket with a left hook. 3-2 by Guzmán . Aquino flopping all over the place. Aquino down on a delayed reaction. Saved by the bell.

Round 3

Guzmán is cruising to his left, very nice footwork, staying at mid-range and sniping with the jab. Aquino tries falling in with an overhanded left and then churns his fists into Guzmán's chest on the inside. Guzmán is turning over hard left hooks but just missing over the head of Aquino, who ducks and comes up with his own lighter but flush-landing hook. Aquino is pushing a loose jab out and then retracting to put up his goal posts, brave and game but leaving an open lane when he does so due to his slow hand speed and the lack of straightness in his jab, playing with fire. Guzmán is jabbing and hooking at the body, dropping into a seated position and bracing himself up to Aquino on the inside, turning his shoulder to slip Aquino's punches.
