Same as HBO. No surprise. I am surprised "free TV" PBC lasted as long as it did and put on as many shows.

It's just a fringe sport in the US. No way to make real sporting money and pay boxers more than peanuts.

Fighters purses are still supplemented when there’s an international distributor. The fighter’s purse is just coming from more places.

    Worse than it was before?

Before PBC, how many free, over-the-air nationally televised boxing shows were aired in the U.S. every year?

How many DECADES had gone between prime time boxing shows on national television when all the fights were on pay cable channels like ESPN2, HBO and Showtime?

This year, on free national television, there was:

    * Keith Thurman vs. Josesito Lopez title fight (and Kownacki vs. Washington) in January
    * Leo Santa Cruz vs. Rafael Rivera title fight in February
    * Shawn Porter vs. Yordenis Ugas title fight (and Ajagba-Mansour) in March
    * Danny Garcia vs. Adrian Granadas (and Andy Ruiz vs. Dimitrenko) in April
    * Jarrett Hurd vs. Julian Williams title fight (and Matt Korobov vs. Aleem) in May
    * Gerald Washington vs. Robert Helenius (Charles Martin-Martz and Jamal James-Demarco) in July
    * Jean Pascal vs. Marcus Browne title fight (and Adam Kownacki vs. Chris Arreola and Omotoso-Stephens) in August
    * And we're still getting Harrison-Charlo II title fight on December 21 (with Efe Ajagba on the undercard).

AND PBC posts all its fights from all the Fox channels on its Youtube site a month or so later, so you can watch them any time. And they have a weekly, nationally televised boxing talk show on Fox every weekend.

Yes, it's SO MUCH WORSE than it was before. We're only getting one national boxing card one Saturday a month for the whole year, instead of ONE EVERY 10 years.

(That's not even counting the fights on FS1 and Showtime this year (like Eubank Jr vs. DeGale earlier this year and Eubank Jr.-Korobov this weekend.)

Yes, it just sucks PBC has made everything SO MUCH WORSE. (LOL)

Without PBC, DAZN wouldn't be here trying to beat them. Without PBC, ESPN wouldn't have upped their game and began showcasing title fights regularly from the US and Frank Warren shows from the UK ... and would still be televising those $10,000 budget ESPN2 cards featuring mostly nobodies.

The debate is over regarding PBC. Boxing fans won.

Everyone all together now ... "THANKS PBC!"

Not if you can’t sell the international rights. Lots of which go unsold. The UK is a big buyer of boxing rights and its missed large chunks of this years fights. Many of the PBC rights get picked up for cheap last minute like this weeks Charlo card. Which has gone to premier sports that no one has ever heard of in the UK for a fraction of market value. Therefore not really supplementing anyone’s purse.

as opposed to Canelo maybe getting $10m for a fight vs Fielding with another $1-3m in international rights they are paying triple that as they have the subscriber base and platform.
