Then it just became dumb. Fighters need to walk to the ring w/ they entourage... it's part of the spectacle of boxing. Now you saw got guys walking out on some weird ass platform.

I agree, regarding the entourage thing. It did feel like the fighters personalities were muted during the ring entrance, like they were self conscious or something.

I liked the telecast for the most part, and I love the idea of developing the fighters personalities and letting the fans get to know them a bit prior to fighting - but the UFC style aesthetic they seem to have adopted really highlights for me how different the 2 sports are, and I think that works to the shows detriment. Point is, boxing is a more cerebral sport than UFC - you dont always get that immediacy of a UFC competition - so dressing boxing up in a UFC style aesthetic makes it seem like a less compelling sport really.

Did the stage really ruin it for you?

When Thurman and Guerrero were exchanging shots were you pacing back and forth in the living room yelling about the stage and the ring entrances

The fights were very fun to watch, especially the last one. That being said..we have to give credit to the fighters and not Haymon for this. Anyway, I'm not Haymon fan but what we saw on free TV tonight was very good for boxing I think. For the rest, the platform look a bit too much like the UFC.

Boxing's a show though, and the atmosphere pre fight is very important.

Imo the stage was silly, I still think the Klitschko entrances are by far the best in all of boxing

Seemed to be a work in progress. Almost had a Contender-esque feel to it.

We should all petition against the cheesy entrances. Even I felt awkward watching from home.

I was waiting for the sound of glass shattering and then seeing stone cold run down the ramp, kick broner and then hear SRL go " THE STONE COLD STUNNER! THE STONE COLD STUNNER! THE STONE COLD STUNNER!!!!"
