If we go by your ESB theories that people only buy his fights to see him lose, but all he does is "cherry pick", why the hell does he do so many sales? Someone is lying, tasco.

I think the point is Floyd can make the same amount over two or three fights without potentially getting f*cked up by Pacquiao, and thus minimizing the chances of winding up like Ali or Benitez.

Ok, so you have no argument to debate. you totally agree w/ me but it makes you mad, so you decide I MUST be gay. If I make sense and oppose your views I obviouslly must be gay. Seems very mature & inteligent.

floyd will be broke no matter how much he makes bc he is stupid with his money. he had to sign with golden boy to get his taxes paid bc he had already blown through his money on houses and planes and cars. hes being sued for a loan for a car right now. money doesn't last for stupid people who flash it and throw it around on foolish investments.

Well why does he bang on so much about how great he is compared to fighters from teh past?

My arse he doesn't care about that. An ego like that and he doesn't care? I don't think so.

Who, and how, Hearns fought is completely and totally irrelevant to him being broke now.

Hearns made enough money to last several life times. He just pissed it away.

Mayweather I would say will **** it away even quicker.

The rumours are around now that he's a serial non-payer of taxes and bills. But now he can fight, and make some more money (and interestingly, rack up more tax debts that no doubt he won't pay).

It's when he stops fighting that things will become interesting.

He's also a prime target for some truly, truly bad people to rip off. There are stories of planned kidnappings of Beckhams kids in order to hold them for ransom. And as posted before, look at how much Floyd flashes cash and watches around.

If he makes his $50mil off of his 'easy' fight with Pac, then won't he be worth even more for his future fights?

Good point on SRR, I only wish floyd would get that point....

I'm sure that was a good bet that paid off, but there's probably 10 other bets that were busts that he AIN'T gonna show to anybody. :rasta

Let's keep delaying the fight cause it will get bigger.

    Eventually that strategy will backfire.

This post is wrong on so many levels. Hearns earned $40 million dollars in his career, and that's when a million dollars was still a million dollars. And he earned that moneyfrom taking the big fights. Floyd will have a record-breaking payday if he takes the Pacquiao fight, and he'll probably have the option of a rematch too. How is avoiding the fight going to improve his financial position? And if there was any active boxer likely to **** away his fortune a la Hearns, it's gotta be Floyd, spending millions on diamond-encrusted toilet paper and bets against the Harlem Globetrotters or whatever other crap helps sustain his ego.

If you care so much about the money, forget boxing, go and support a bank.

You don't need to be undefeated to be the greatest

what thread starter is saying is you critisice so much, you all think you are his mangers and advisers. but boxing is a business, now tommy hearns and other top fighters now broke. where the hell are the fans. they are no where. floyd has an impressive resume. the only figt i can kind of fault is jmm because he was too small but he brought in alot of money from his demographic and was top 3 p4p universally pls floyd needed a tuneup and jmm was high profile so you fools need to understand that there is a method to do things.

Floyd is doing no different to what every other top fighter has done

Hearns isn't broke because he chose legacy over money. He made more money than 99% of people in boxing history, yet he's ended up poor when they aren't. The reason he's poor, is because he wasted that money. I guarantee that you won't ever see a Klitschko, Kessler or anyone like that ending up poor. It's not because they make more money but they know how to spend it. Mayweather doesn't and will inevitably end up poor no matter what he does in his career.

The thing is though, he's getting old and he doesn't have much longer at the top. If he cares about money, he should work while he can and maximise his profits. He should fight three times a year and make as much as possible in sponserships.

But this idea that you can't fight for legacy and money is completely wrong.
