I think it's clear from that one snapshot in time that Cortez was responsible for the 2 knockdowns and, ultimately, the knockout. C'mon....Hatton lost. Let it go. Hope it makes a better fighter out of him, alright?
I still don't like that. I think fighters and officials should remain completley neutral and seperated even if it is as something as simple as posing for photographs. To me, its just not professional looking.
That is the reason I posted it up...the picture came from ESB's homepage.....and I made no statement regarding verbage nor what it means.
Cortez was too quick to break them up early and didn't let them fight enough on the inside. He penalized Hatton and didn't penalize Mayweather. But while Floyd was using his forearms in close quarters, Hatton was fighting dirty as well - hitting the back of Mayweather's head. I would have preferred Bayles, but no ref would have prevented Mayweather from knocking Hatton out.
in a fight that's supposed to be exciting, I'll take Smoger any day of the week. One thing about Cortez: he lOVES the camera. Smoger lets people fight.
I liked the guy who did the Gatti-Ward fights. He did Spinks-Tyson as well. I Also liked Mills Lane. They let fighters fight.
The picture you should be saying: "A picture is worth a thousand words...." is the picture of Hatton sleeping on his back. And it is "An expression is worth a thousand words" you uneducated ********* That being said, Cortez did a bad job but at least it didn't affect the outcome of the fight. I like Steve Smoger.
But Hatton fights illegally, where as Gatti and Ward did not. Big difference. I thought Cortez did a fine job. Much better then Dave Paris thats for sure.
