ODLH was promoting on Hatton's behalf. Promoters ALWAYS help their fighters. I don't understand why a fighter's promoter shouldn't give him advice.
A promoter doesn't (at least he shouldn't) have any control of what happens during the fight. The referee does. The safety of both fighters is at stake, so it's vital that the referee's judgment is not clouded by a lack of impartiality. Cortez fell short of the required standard.
Floyd should have held Cortez's hand up when they announced the winner, instead of the other way round. :stir
I'm not saying these refs are any better, but this thread is about Joe Cortez. Posing for phots with his arm around PBF's shoulder is a bit much though, even by British standards.
I can only presume the Hatton crybabies don't realize the irony of this thread, not to mention the sheer joy it brings Tszyu fans. Keep up the good work. 2 words: Dave Parris
Does he put his arm around every referee? :huh I too would be happy with the referee if he only enforced the rules which gave me a clear advantage.
I'm more intrigued about the relationship between PBF and the turnbuckle. Was there some shenanigans before the fight? Did PBF take the turnbuckle out for a lavish night out at the casino and a tasty dinner at an expensive restaurant? Inquiring minds want to know.
Another thing fighters take pics with refs all the time after fights. This is being blown way out of proportion
And joint photos of the referee and the winning QB in the Super Bowl, the umpire and the winning pitcher in the World Series, the referee and NBA Champ team, etc. As the saying goes: "Only in boxing".
