If Floyd ducks the winner of the Sweepstakes, then with good reason, even diehard PBF fans with any common sense will have to call him a big time Ducker.

He has already proven himslef to be a sucker, but he can redeem himself a bit by facing Cotto. . . not DLH.

    Can i propose a bet?

If PBF beats cotto - you Pretty Boy Floyd Money Mayweather on your ass, if cotto wins, i'll get his on mine.

Either way, you're ****ed if cotto loses, thats a lot of letters......i'm only ****ed if cotto double nicknames himself a la floyd

If you can translate Roger Mayweathers tirades into English for the entire 24/7 coming up then you got a deal.

I can do it, but i'll need 24 hrs and a group of six intrepreters to check, double check, triple check....etcetc.....if I get you the translation more than 24hrs late I'll concede the bet.

God, this fight needs to happen. Simple as that.

Personally, I think you'll see twelve of the most aesthetically pleasing rounds of boxing that has been witnessed in quite some time, with both fighters producing efforts that will only enhance their legacy. A Cotto victory earns him the status of WW champion (that currently belongs to Floyd no questions asked). A Floyd victory shuts up the haters who currently claim that he's avoiding the guy who is his biggest threat at the weight (which he is).

And we get an awesome spectacle in the bargain.

I think the fight needs to happen, but I don't think it'll be nearly as aesthetically pleasing as most people think.

Once the main goal becomes to make money, then the meaning of the journey gets distorted, and will utimately fail. This is Business 101. Take Roger mayweathers braindead comment on 24-7 "Why does Bill Gates still make those ****ing computers??" The is precisley the virus the had infected PBF's camp, and will lead to his failure. The rheotrical answer to his hair brained question (Bill Gates "MicroSoft does not make computers, It produces software..hence microSOFT), in his mind, is to make money. That is incorrect. That is the end result of his goal, which would be something like "to supply a value added product to the masses that is easily affordable and user freindly"..that would be the companies mission statement, hypothetically..the money is the end result of acheiving this goal. Once money BECOMES the goal, the priorities get skewed. This is precisely what is happening with PBF, and, ultimately, will be his undoing. Many, many people, both famous and infamous, have made this same error in the past, and failed. It is written that those who dont learn from the lessons of the past are doomed to repeat the failures. PBF can make a lot of money fighting true contenders frequentlly, and cement his legacy. he would be respected much more in the future if he fought a Cotto-esque fighter and lsot, than by avoiding him all toghether.

I also do not understand the whole 'calling out" rhettoric which is prevelant today. So, in theory, the champion should simply sit idle, in a lounge chair, until a contender calls him out. Thats the silliest thing I have heard in quite some time. Your legacy, and your desire to achieve, should be the driving force behind your commintment to the sport, and support your choice of oppisition. Not is someone calls you out. PBF needs to unify the belts, or at least make an attempt to do so, if he truly wants to live up to his own bravado. At this rate, he will be a barley mentioned memory in 20 years, and not a timeless pugilistic icon, like a SRL. As amatter of opinion, he is like SRL....if SRL refused to engage Tommy Hearns, Marvin Hagler and Roberto Duran, and instead foccused on the Doony Lalondes of the boxing world.

It's not like Cotto doesn't throw pretty combinations, or utitlise proper footwork. And it's not like Floyd doesn't display a level of technical proficiency when he fights in terms of offense and defence. No, even if the fight is one-sided in terms of scoring, it'l; still be fun to watch because it'll be Cotto trying different ways to apply pressure, and Floyd coming up with ways to counter the attack. How is that not pleasing to watch!?

...I feel that we, as true fans of this great sport, should realize the PBF has picked his own poison so to speak, and although it looks like, on a distant, murky paper, that his rematch with ODL will be one sided (the 1st fight cetainlly was not), it is not a guarenteed victory. In only will take a minor adjustment from ODL, and either the lack of any (adjustments) from PBF, a small regression in bis technique, a lack of focuse, or the desire to 'mix it up" in lieu of ptoshotting, for our September posts take a whole different vibe.
