Floyd had a well guided, carefully managed career starting from his amateur years. Floyd's dad was a boxer, Manny Pacquiao was practically on his own. He was a construction laborer and a boxer on the side. He trained by himself using improvised equipment. Pacquiao started prizefighting at 16 and won his first world championship belt as a malnourished and improperly trained teenage boxer. I wonder if Floyd Mayweather could thrive as a fighter under the same circumstances.

taking someones greatness away because their father was a fighter and they got encouraged into the sport is bull**** and nothing to do with their greatness today in my opinion.

Who is greater......:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:nut J/K. Skill wise Floyd is one of the best ever no doubt. As far as achievement goes, Pac by a mile. You don't see Floyd fighting the top guy at his 6th weight division. Forget that, he's not even fighting the top guy at his 5th weight division. Who was greater...LOL

Mayweather has the better physical talents, IMO, but as far as achievements...

Pac arguably had a better resume BEFORE fighting Hatton and DLH. He had beaten three of the ATG featherweights and a handful of other guys who are great fighters. Beating Hatton and DLH, guys who are just significantly bigger than him, and annihilating them the way he did puts him over, IMO.

It's Pac for me right now but very close. A fight between the two is needed to get a final answer.

It should be answered in the ring BUT...

let's please keep in mind that Manny Pacquiao began his career at 106...he is a MUCH smaller guy than these WW's...

Guys, don't fall for this hype. Floyd is picking this fight because he knows his style is perfect to beat Pacman. Just like Hopkins picked on Pavlik, knowing he was going to have an easy night (Hopkins always picks on straight-line fighters he knows he can upset, like Tarver and Trinidad).

Floyd retired to avoid Margarito (who has a stylistic advantage over Floyd) and is now returning to the ring for an easy payday now that Margo is gone. If Margarito comes back, you can expect Floyd to retire again.
