    This all seems like bull****. You only have weight penalty provisions when there are no other provisions to prevent a fighter from going over weight. This fight will be sanctioned as a WW title fight. As such, there are already built in provisions to prevent a fighter from going over weight. Not only that, but Mayweather has fought all but one of his fights at 147 or lower. He was 146 lbs. in his last fight. This alleged provision makes zero sense and I highly doubt it's in the contract. Anything is possible though.

    And here is an article from ESPN(a very credible site) that says the belt is on the line;

    "The source also disclosed other aspects of the fight, which will take place at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds for Pacquiao's title and match the top two fighters in the world, pound-for-pound."

    Keep in mind that the contract is still not signed and there are hints that it might not be a title fight. I'm not sure why Manny's title won't be on the line, until the contract is finalize we won't know what is official.

    I hope what ESPN reports is what gets finalize. Again the contract is still not signed by Mayweather after Pacquiao countered. :roll:

    Common sense tells me that Pac wouldn't escew a $30+ mill payday over a couple of lbs. This is a moot point anyway. This is going to be a WW title fight which would eliminate the neccesity of a weight penalty clause.

    There is absoultely ZERO reason that Pac's title wouldn't be on the line, ZERO.

    You don't know who signed what. You didn't even know that it was going to be a title fight. Expect this fight to be formally announced by the weekend.

    Why on earth would he weigh more than 147??

    the guy weighs in over the agreed weight ONCE in his career(still inside the welterweight limit) and now suddenly people have him pegged as a guy who deliberately comes in over weight!

    Crazy!

    And what if Floyd believes his only sound chance of winnig is to come in with a huge weight advantage? He might come in with 154 and pay 7 Million $ penalty, if he thinks this would ensure him to win. He does get a load of money either way, and half of it (or even more) goes to IRS anyway, so every penalty he has to "pay" means just he earns half the penalty less for him then if he comes in with 147.

    So if he gets 20-30 Millions or even more, he can easily afford toss away a few Millions if it enhances his winning chances a lot... Team Pac should make it 10 Million $ penalty for each pound over 147 if they want to be sure Floyd comes in with 147 :yep

    That's why floyd wouldn't even sweat it out in case he exceeded the contracted weight during the wiegh in knowing that pac wouldn't screw the fight over a couple of rounds. so he'll do that to gain advantage knowing floyd doesn't care about his legacy but money & his "0".

    who cares about the title? There is absolutely need to force gayweather to come in at 147 lbs and not pull another gayweather vs JMM, by the way if you are so sure that gayweather will come in at 147 why so worried about the penalty?

    Floyd never came in overweight. The Marquez signed for the fight to be at 147. So Floyd going over for a fight that's going to have a title on the line.. is just stupid. There won't be a penalty.

    Do you *******s ever think?
