Mandarin is spoken by more people than English.

You are ignorant since many American athletes, artists and scientist WORK across the world without speaking one word in any foreign language except 'Do you speak English.' In fact, Americans have a notorious reputation to NOT speak anything other than English. American tourists for example expects people to speak to them in English, while they expect tourists here in the US to speak to them in English.
Many Europeans speak 2-3 or more languages. Asians are often bi-lingual, not counting the multiple dialects in their native language.

Well that may be true but it's the universal language second to no one. A vast majority of people migrate to the U.S or canada whether visiting or moving there. I for one I have no interest in visiting countries that speak different languages but if I did, especially frequent visits, I would learn their language. If I was an athlete and I was fighting or constantly playing my sport in other countries I would definitely be taking language classes. Hell If i was Chinese or something, I would want to learn English just to be able to watch original movies without having to rely on subtitles.
