I think you can argue it either way.

A lot of people are going to say "Oh but the De la Hoya fight"...But frankly I think DLH was a better welterweight in his prime and is a different fighter to Mayweather anyway. I think prime Hoya beats Floyd at welter.

I dont really feel Floyd at welterweight is the kind of awesome he was at 130.

I still do side with him but not by a hell of a lot. I just dont see an argument for Floyd winning this easily or particularly comfortably. But I do think he has the capability to offset Tito and not gas whilst doing it like Oscar did.

I have found in the past people often either side with one or the other definitively...but I dont see it like that.

arguably he lost to dlh, so i think PBF boxes him under the table. but tito could put u down and dlh was pretty much a rock so that might come into play

    Floyd. Tito's too flat-footed and straight-forward.

    Tito UD.

Tito had size, stamina, legit ko power, aggression, strength, knows how to cut the ring off, and has underrated speed and skills himself. He would be the most powerful person that Mayweather would have ever fought, and the biggest.

No way does Mayweather pot shot Tito to victory IMO, which is his style of choice at 147..... and it would be suicidal imo if he stood in front of him trying to do the shoulder roll, or on the ropes. His only real options in my opinion is just trying to outbox tito but i just dont see it having much success after the midway point when tito really starts to turn on, constantly coming forward.

Hoya threw combinations on the balls of his feet very very good in his prime, with more on them then mayweathers, hes also bigger and stronger then mayweather,

i dont know.... i think mayweather would fustrate tito but i see tito pulling out a close one.

Pbf on points. I dont think tito has the tools to outwit Floyd. But he can surely knock him out, IF he hits.

This ^^^ I know a lot of people are going to get upset at this statement, and cry blaspheme, but trinidad was really a destroyer that at times appeared one-dimensional....I think the de la hoya fight is a good indicator though of what a world class, elite, technically sound guy could do to trinidad...hopkins is another example, even though that was not trinidad's best weight class......Floyd is also a defensive mastermind compared to de la hoya....

I think floyd wins this comfortably but not in a blowout fashion....

I am curious what people are basing a Floyd victory off of?

Tito has been beaten by three guys....

Winky, an almost 5'10 1/2' and a guy who has fought comfortably at middleweight, and as high as 170lbs

Hopkins, who is 6'1'', and who fights comfortably at light heavy

Roy Jones Jr, who fights comfortably at light heavy, and has fought at heavyweight

He had a controversial fight with Hoya, who is almost 5'10 1/2, and has fought at middleweight, was at his complete best and still had to run in order to stay away from tito, and was seriously fatigued at the end of the fight due to the performence he put on.

Mayweather will be 3 inches shorter then trinidad,

This is no baldomir or faded oscar, in which mayweather got a SD against.

Tito had unrelenting pressure, and power in both hands, Mayweather doesnt have the workrate to win rounds off of tito without doing some serious, serious boxing, and the only problem with that is imo he simply doesnt have the physical stature to pull it off.

Mayweathers combination punching at 147 to me is not as impressive as hoyas was.... the reason hoya was able to look good in parts of the tito fight was because he could rattle off a strong, fast combo, then run away. At 147, mayweather throws a different kind of combo then hoya does, and doesnt have hoyas height, reach, power and strength to put on tito the way hoya did.

I would love for someone to break it down, but i just dont see how Mayweather overcomes all of what tito brings to the table, his punch and retreat method (again, which is the only method i can see him employing in this fight, as the shoulder roll is suicidal) will not win him the fight against a fighter like Tito, as was seen by oscar, someone who imo in his prime could do that style of fighting better against tito then mayweather could due to mayweathers tendency to potshot at 147.

Tito is not just the biggest, strongest, and most powerful guy that Mayweather would have ever fought, he would also be the greatest.

It took Hopkins, a weightclass above his best weight to put a stop to Titos reign, but mayweathers gonna do it at 147? when he got an SD against an oscar two fights away from retirement? Its not like tito has no jab to speak of eather.....

i dont know, i just think Mayweather is getting way too much credit in this matchup, when hes never fought a fighter like Tito, nor anyone even near Titos greatness besides on old oscar, and is coming to the fight the smaller guy.

Im not saying i couldnt see Mayweather pulling it off, this is boxing, anythings possible, i suppose i could see mayweather constantly circling, shooting jabs to titos face and body, waiting for that counter right hand and left hook, but again, hed be doing it against a guy whos 3 or 4 inches taller then him, and is a great fighter in his prime, whos not going to stop.

To each their own.... but id like for someone to tell me what exactly makes them think mayweather would beat Tito.

Dont get me wrong, i think it would be close, and i respect your guys's opinion.... Mayweather is a great fighter in his own right, but imo is just undersized against too good of an opponent at his opponents best weight, and not his. I just want your actual take on it.

For a comparison, people were talking about baldomirs 'size' against mayweather, well tito is 4 inches taller then baldomir, with like 5 inches in reach alone, and obviously is leagues and levels above baldomir as a fighter. But if someone thought Mayweather had to be cautious against baldomir because of his size, and pot shot to victory, what is he gonna do with tito?

Great post. I also want to ask if PBF has the power to hurt Tito, since Tito seemed comfortable with everyone's power all the way up to Bernard Hopkin's weight. Mayorga was hitting Tito with a lot of power punches in their fight, and with the exception to the one flash knockdown, Tito persevered through that fight quite well.
