Hell Pete, the strong MW southpaw volume puncher Tiger Flowers at 160 pounds woukd chase a bloated up 160 pound Mayweather out of the ring..
We are not talking about P4P on this thread, which means who was better at their respective weights.? If a Robinson the greatest fighter in the 1940s would not tackle a much bigger and stronger Ezzard Charles, or a prime Archie Moore, why should a Mayweather have to jump divisions to tackle the toughest dynamo of the middleweight division ? The thread
    goes beyond Fantasy Bouts...

Yeah, this truly takes the meaning of a fantasy fight to a whole new level. We're getting past the realms of Greb-Ali. At least Greb fought HWs...

Pete, I like your avatar, showing Marciano doing roadwork at Grossinger's Hotel in NY. I saw Rocky train in the airplane hangar in the backkground...

    Why not Mayweather vs. Jones?

Mayweather would never share the same continent as Greb, let alone the same ring!!

Mayweather's frame is 5'8" with a 72" reach. Greb's is 5'8" and 71". Greb is tough, no doubt about that. He's not a huge puncher though with a 46% ko % based on (t)kos per win. Your right Mayweather may not be strong enough at 160 to be as effective as he's been in the past. If he's not than Greb will win. However if he is than Mayweather will win. I think there are other middleweights who would more clearly beat Mayweather than Greb would.

R, let's be real. Do you expect a Mayweather today in his thirties, to fatten up to 160 pounds , maintain his prime speed and hitting powers and challenge a 160 pound Sergio Martinez and beat him? Ridiculous. We are nor talking about P4P. We are talking as per thread, of the 160 pound mid thirties Floyd Mayweather to get into the ring with most likely the greatest
middleweight anamoly of alltime Harry Greb. Mayweather might have the same height and reach as Greb but Marciano has less reach and 2inches of height on Mayweather. So what.?..It is the chest muscles, the thighs, bicep bulk that makes a middleweight and a prime jr welterweight.
So you think seriously that a prime 160 pound Greb ,who walked around at 170 pounds, a bullish iron jawed rough tornado, would lose to a 35 year old
fattened Floyd Mayweather ? Could a Floyd Mayweather today carry 13 more pounds and still have the speed and power to hurt even todays
MWs , let alone the great Harry Greb, who all his great victims proclaimed
as the best fighter they ever fought.? Would you match this 160 pound Mayweather with a Hagler,Dick Tiger, Ray Robinson, etc ? Of course not...
Well Greb was faster, tougher, rougher, than all of these MWs I mentioned...And Harry kicked the hell out of Lightheavyweights and heavyweights in a THREE HUNDRED bout career...:patsch

If I remember correctly it was a consensus that Greb was faster than Benny Leonard (a LW).....So, with that thing in mind you have to say he was incredibly fast.......

His resume suggests that he is tougher than Hagler because he faced bigger fighters and was really stopped once (fighting much more fights than Hagler) and when he was very very green.....and another time when he broked his arm......

Harry Greb is arguably the best ever pound for pound, and some want to match him up at 160 with Mayweather Jr?

Yes. THREE HUNDRED BOUTS against the toughest middleweights, lightheavyweights, and even heavyweights, MANY HALL OF FAMERS, such as Gene Tunney, Tommy Gibbons, Tommy Loughran, Jack Dillon, Battling Levinsky,Billy Miske, Gunboat Smith, Mike Gibbons, Tiger Flowers, Mickey Walker, Kid Norfolk, Willie Meehan, Bill Brennan, etc. All who Greb beat
and get this. For the last few years of his amazing career fighting with the sight of only ONE EYE...The damn record proves my contention...Cheers...
P.S. Why didn't Hagler tackle the top LHs of his time ?
Why didn't Ray Robinson tackle Charley Burley, Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, etc ? Answer these two fighters knew their limitations...Greb's
courage and sense of fearlessness had NONE....Cheers...

This thread is proof of ultimate stupidity. People posting opinionsnabout Greb who dont even know his style, size and the history of boxing.

Wtf posted about pbf's masterclass against JMM? The fact that the jmm fight is even being mentioned as one of floyd's "achievements" shows the bull**** pbf has pulled.

He has waited and hyped up every fighter he has fought, ducking anything remotely dangerous. Compsre this to the era in which Greb fought the best middleweights and guys heavieer on a very frequent basis in an age where boxing was much more popular than it is today.

Pbf loses, without a shadow of a doubt. Unless you cut Grebs arm off to make 147.

Grinder, well said. What gets my dander up is that the thread states that both Greb and Mayweather fight at 160 pounds...At 160 pounds Mayweather wouldn't be Mayweather ,but an average MW who would be in his thirties...Doesn't make sense at all...:good

It still shows a 147lb is capable of beating Greb if he lost and drew to a good but none great contender weighing that weight. Just because Greb fought the week before does not mean he was impeded or injured coming into the fights. Many fighters spar the week before with hard sparring

No, I don't rank Loche's defence as high as Mayweather's, it seems more penetrable and it was against Ortiz and Cervantes

It would be the 149lb 30yo Mayweather who fought Oscar, not today's version.

He's fought similar sized men, Oscar was 165, Ortiz 162, Mosley probably 160, Cotto will probably be a similar size. All in same day weigh ins fighting regularly would probably be fighting at 160lbs

Greb will have a size advantage. Mayweather will have advantages in speed, skill and defence

I'm not picking a winner, but if Greb wins, he won't look good doing so, missing allot
