Exactly, we're talking about a fighter where a case could be made he has the best chin of all time. In his prime I don't recall him even being wobbled.

Sweet Pea gave him a boxing Lesson. Guess what PBF will do? A Gatti/Hatton like beating all over again.

Theres a huge difference in class between Gatti/Hatton and Chavez, theres also a difference between Whitaker and Mayweather. You comparing the 2 shows your level of boxing knowledge.

Chavez Would Ruin Him Like He Did Meldrick. He Might Not Win, But Chavez Would Ruin Him And Win The Second.

You don't have to buy it. The fact is Sweet Pea should have been undefeated with no draws going into the DLH fight when he was old, on coke, and nearly won against a peak DLH that would have given Floyd a hell of a fight.

Prime for prime, how many PPV would this fight do?:D

Its certainly a tough matchup for both fighters.

Its been mentioned by some in this thread, but I'd like to know from those who think that Mayweather would win, how is it exactly that he'd accomplish it?

Taylor troubled Chavez with quickness, speed, and blurrs of combinations.......

Whitaker did so with his defensive quirky body movements, and he was constantly running in circles....rarely did Pea stop to fight.

Mayweather is nothing like Taylor in that he rarely punches in bunches.....
......and unlike Whitaker, Mayeather likes to go to the ropes.

.....both Taylor and Whitaker have a much higher workrate than Mayweather.

How do some of you guys envision Mayweathers game plan to be......what kind of an offensive output do you envision him having.

I envision Chavez attacking trying to get in close and work the body....
......Hatton certainly posed problems for Mayweather through six or 7 rounds by applying alot of pressure.....so stylistically, Chavez has what Hatton has plus better skills and a much better defense.
He'd certainly do much better than Hatton, who imo was right there in the fight with Mayweather.

.....for me to envision Mayweather winning a decision, he'd have to constantly be trying to get into clinches with Chavez trying to stop his workrate.
Chavez is'nt a hit and grab type of fighter like Hatton has come to be.

......so short of Mayweather constantly holding and clinching, I'd envision Chavez outworking Mayweather and winning a close decision, maybe even a late stoppage if Mayweather got brave.

My respects to Floyd Mayweather however. I've got to admit that he's a special talent, who'd have a real chance against Chavez.

I'd love to see Mayweather face Cotto to get a better idea how a fight with Chavez might materialize.
My opinion is that Cotto might present a few problems for Mayweather because he's got great skills and knows how to attack the body.
Imo Cotto's downfall in a fight with Mayweather would be his very suspect chin. That chin can be cracked.

......however, that would'nt be the case with JC Chavez would it???:hey

In any regards, I'd like to see a few descriptions on how a Mayweather victory would unfold.

Great breakdown as always Divac. :thumbsup

Contary to how people peceive Mayweather; as the ultra flashy boxer, Mayweather does not throw many combinations, if at all, only when his opponent is seriously hurt/tired does he throw a few combos.
Also Mayweather does not move around the ring as much as either Taylor or Whitaker, he will throw a potshot, move, stand still and allow his opponent to come to him, potshot and then move, stand still again, allow his opponent to come to him, then potshot....rinse and repeat.

As Divac, says he is nowhere near as active as either Taylor or Whitaker, Chavez is a workman and like Castillo did against Mayweather the first time, he would use lots of head movement and bully PBF to the ropes, Floyds potshots would be of no concern to JCC and his iron chin, he would just be concerned with catching him.

Floyd may win, if he moves and potshots all night, I also think his defensive style would greatly frustrate JCC but with his lack of workrate compared to Sweet Pea, JCC would have an easier time I feel.

    It would definitley be close.
