Too much credit given to Mayweather in this thread, and not enough credit to JMM......

My opinion is that despite Mayweather's edge in speed and quickness, Marquez' edge in boxing ability would able him to compete with Mayweather at 130 lbs.

Bodywork is something that JL Castillo was effective against Mayweather......its a big part of JMM's repertoire that people dont give him credit for.

Mayweather can be outboxed, Mental midget Judah was doing it through 5 rounds when they faced eachother.....

One thing about Mayweather, he does'nt like fighting 3 minutes of every round, but thats something imo he'd have to do against JMM at 130 lbs.
How Mayweather would do against someone that would force him to respond and have to keep his hands moving is at least somewhat of a question mark.
JMM's stamina and workrate is beyond reproach, as he just might be the best conditioned boxer in the world even today at his advanced age.

The one thing that needs to be said here is that at 130 lbs, we're talking about Mayweather's physical peak......JMM's physical peak was sometime before the first Pac fight.

A pickem fight imo would have been between these two with both at the same age.....had this happened, I'd likely lean toward JMM, though a Mayweather victory is certainly possible from my vision of events.

......as the thread stands however, the Mayweather that fought at 130lbs against Marquez who fought at 130 lbs.....

My honest opinion is that Mayweather would be to fast in the first 3 or 4 rounds.......not dominating, JMM hanging in there, but Mayweather likely taking all of them early rounds....

JMM adapting to Mayweather's speed and making things alot more competitive in rounds 4-8. JMM's body punching and overall better repertoire in shot selection comes into the fray in these mid rounds, the fighters likely splitting them on most judges scorecards.....

Rounds 9-12, I see a clear advantage to JMM. I think Mayweather's speed and quickness advantage drops the longer the fight goes, and that benefits JMM who imo is the better skilled fighter, and who imo who's stamina has been tested better than Mayweather's.
I see JMM taking 3 out of the last 4 rounds, which would make this a very close decision victory for Mayweather.

7-5 decision in favor of Mayweather, and likely not at all controversial in that JMM would have a steep hill to climb after digging himself an early hole against the much faster Mayweather.

My opinion is that a fight between these two, both at say 28 years old (which is usually a fighters prime) would have been epic!

    Nicely said :good

But sorry to break your EUPHORIA ;)

You must have forgotten how Hatton was domolished by PBF....
and do you Honestly FEEL that it will only be 7-5 in favor of PBF?!

I doubt if JMM can get pass Hatton in 6 to 8 rounds...what more if we talk about PBF?!

Sorry buddy! PBF and the so called technically gifter boxer is league's apart. He can't even ko a one eyed Juarez remember?!... and you know very well how aggressive PBF is and his defense is impaccable

If the fight happens it's an ALREADY an achievement if JMM can last till 5 rounds.

    In other words...

    Don't make it complicated buddy!

    PBF>HATTON>JMM :deal

p.s i hope JMM meets Valera. I'm sure he'll win and I'll give him credit despite he has only Mosqueda in his resume.

AT LEAST HE IS MUCH YOUNGER THAN HIS GREATEST VICTORY
    MAB and CASA :thumbsup

Yup! The guy who always reminds JMM fans than no matter what Hype
you want to write about JMM..

    JMM is the best defense
JMM is the best counter puncher
JMM is the best ... and so on and so forth...

at the end of the day

    you could only speak of

Close the wash up MAB and ULTR PRIME Casa in the resume..

BUT when you READ the WRITE UPs!

Man oh man! All the 130's and 135's is no match to JMM :D

No worries buddy! ONCE JMM beats up Valero no matter how shallow his resume is I'll give him credit.

His future win over Valero IMO will have more meaning than his previous wins over Mab and Casa...at least for a chance he defeated somebody who is YOUNG with IMPRESSIVE number of W's:good

This wholly inaccurate. Watch that fight again. Judah was never outboxing Floyd, certainly not through 5 rounds. To outbox someone, you have to at least be effective with your jab, Zab's jab was never effective in that fight. He barely landed it , and his jab, double, jab, straight left combo missed pretty much every time. In reality, Zab had two good rounds. Those were rounds 2 and 4. Round 1 was a tossup where nothing really happned, rounds 3 and 5-11 were all Floyd. Floyd clowned in round 12. Zab won rounds 2 and 4 based off of counterpunching. Marquez is a better counterpuncher. However, Zab was only able to counter Floyd because of that southpaw stance and his advantage in handspeed. Marquez has no advantages in terms of handspeed and is right handed.

Styles make fights. When you have two guys with somewhat similar styles except that one is more talented than the other, the more talented fighter usually wins decisively. JMM is outgunned in the speed, size, and power department. Let's also not forget that JMM has a leaky defense while Floyd is a brilliant defensive fighter. JMM is an excellent fighter, but this would be a bad matchup for him stylistically.

but i do think a 130 pbf would beat marquez but it would be a most def be an epic,
pb4 had the fire power to hurt marquez at that weight, but floyd would get tagged a hell of alot from juan's counters

but you questioning his abilities is the down right wrong

he is one of the finest counter-punchers in the game!

you are the one that seems to be sleeping alot, i think you need to wake up and watch marquez fight before you analyze
