PBF vs JMM : What's the real weight??

When the fight was announced last May 2, neither the promoters or boxers can confirm on what weight PBF and JMM will fight... Numbers were thrown around, 143, 144 and 147 then it settled somehow at 143/144 lbs.

Now there's rumors that this fight is bumped up again to 147 lbs... Below from an article in scene that talks boxing:


"The rumors are out there again. A few weeks ago, there were rumors that Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Juan Manuel Marquez, scheduled to take place at the catch-weight of 143/144-pounds [depending on who you ask], was going to get bumped to the full welterweight limit of 147. The weight changed was disputed by those who are close to the fight. Then the fight got pushed back due to an injury to Mayweather's rib and the new date of September 19 has been locked down.

This time the weight change talk is coming from Nacho Beristain, the manager and trainer of Marquez. He says people are saying the weight got bumped to 147 and that would put them at a bigger disadvantage if it proves to be true.

"They are saying that they changed it to 147 pounds. Juan is eager to fight Mayweather and does not care about that, but if the fight is allowed to take place at that weight, Floyd could rise to 160-pounds by the time he enters the ring, or more. The chances of that taking place if he weiged 143 are far less because he would have to work a lot harder to make the weight. I need to speak to Juan about this," Beristain told The Record."



What's really the real weight??

If they make this fight at 147, the more people will not buy this mismatch or tune up fight... Others might get a refund this early...

JMM has close to zero chance of winning this fight at 143/144, how much more at 147... 0.001% is it ...

I'm guessing the weight is not yet fixed... 143, 144 or 147... What's the real weight?

 

It's published in the boxing website, scene that talks boxing... JMM's trainer Nacho Beristain was the one who said that statement (back to 147)... I'm wondering why there's still some rumors floating around about the real weight PBF and JMM will fight... You can also questioned that during the fight announcement last May 2, the real weight was not specifically reported... Was that fight announcement hurriedly done where the weight was not yet settled? So many quirks about this mismatch fight to somehow portray it as an even fight...

For PBF to have enormous size advantage, as if he didn't have any at 143/144...

It could be also a good reason to finally scrap this slow selling fight if Team JMM will not agree to the new weight of 147 lbs. ...

The weight was vague since day one the fight was announced (May 2, 2009, just hours before the PAC-Hatton fight)... I'm guessing they announced the PBF-JMM fight hurriedly where the weight was not yet finally settled but agreed that its somewhere between "143 to 147 lbs."...

As I've said that interview was last June 26, Nacho's comments were made today...

Nacho is as reliable as Richard... Official fight announcements SHOULD come from Mayweather Promotions being the lead promoter for this fight...
