:blood Dafuq? Maidana landed more flush hard shots on him than anybody in years.

    Let's compare:

Average of 8.06 punches landed against per round in 12-rounders under Roger.

Average of 12.05 punches landed against per round in 12-rounders under Floyd Sr.

    So, um, what?

:deal Yup this is true. I think Floyd needs Roger there more playing the part of psychiatric relief or therapist, Floyd might get offended getting told something he already knows. Roger just basically reminds him to "bax this mudaphuka" or fight smart, cuz even Floyd does every now and then get overwhelmed with pride and goes toe to toe when he doesn't have too. I know Floyd Sr is responsible for teaching the Mayweather clan this style, but Roger and nephew perfected it working together all those yrs. At this point in his career, I don't think it'd matter, tho I could see fingers getting pointed and them playing the blame game IF the unimaginable happened that Floyd would lose.

    neutral.

on one hand, you'd have Roger just saying "BE YOU! THAT'S ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS BE YOU"

    Senior would be like "BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTT"

pick which one you'd like to hear

Both of them get far too much credit for Floyd's success. For his formative years, sure, they helped him develop his style as it is today. But as far as actually gym/corner work in recent years, I haven't seen much to make me think either provide much help. No real tactical advice except a bunch of mumbling, swearing, and stuttering. Floyd doesn't need either at this point.

The circumstances for the 1st Maidana fight were extremely unfavourable to him, cannot attribute that to his dad. (Bad ref).

That is one occurrence that is extremely rare.

And you have to consider that Floyd has been leaving his prime since 2012.

For him to still be this good with his dad at his advanced age speaks a lot.

I think both are very very good trainers.

Roger is very sick right now, and I don't think he's physically capable of doing the job right. It really doesn't matter anyway as Floyd is smarter than both of them, and he's going to do what he's going to do regardless.

Subtracting the stats of The Moment still doesn't change the fact that otherwise Roger still averaged fewer punches landed on his charge per round & per fight than did his brother over the same championship distances.

If we are throwing out Maidana I, let us also throw away The World Await stats, as DLH is by a large margin and inarguably the greatest opponent in Mayweather's career, so that skews things even more than whatever circumstantial allowances you want to make for Maidana I - that leaves us with Roger averaging single-digits per round; 7.36 against Hall of Fame locks in Marquez, Cotto and Mosley, while Floyd Sr. was on the cusp of averaging double-digits; 9.94 in a comparable sampling versus Guerrero, Álvarez & Maidana II.

you have to take into account how good the shots were and that too for it to be any good, mosley nearly knocked his head off, Maidana was wile dirty too

Mosley had one good round. On the whole Maiden even in the rematch was far more effective. (both in connect percentage and quality of shots)

"Keep doin whatcha doin" + "Box tha mu****a" = "Box tha mu****a"

He literally has one instruction from the corner  but yes he's there more for moral support

I know was one of floyds best performaces I think but that punch was better than say than a few light jabs which come up in them stats. He's near shot now too, looked terrible in that rematch
