I was thinking about the outcomes. Pacquiao wins, a big "the writing was on the wall" statement is heard around the world, the villain is vanquished in the eyes of some boxing fans, pacquiao, bob arum and many others benefit financially, and another step is taken toward the biggest fight in the 21st century being signed.

but...what if he loses? what happens if he loses?

we all now about cause and effect, it's a fact of life. what happens if antonio margarito beats pacquiao? without going into the "tale of the tape," and while standing from a perspective not favoring either combatant, you have to be able to say it's at least a possibility.

what if it happens? there are tons of outcomes, but an immediate one is a rematch with margarito. probably wouldn't be a bad choice considering how pacquiao fared in the loss. but what is lost for the future of boxing if pacquiao loses? the hype and anticipation of a clash with mayweather? pacquiao's hotshot status and huge moneymaking potential? either way a loss figures to be a huge setback for pacquiao, but more importantly to arum probably, his worldwide superstar. this is a risky, risky fight. it was obviously signed with the idea that pacquiao would more than likely emerge the victor, but if plans go awry i'm interested to see if boxing takes a huge hit in some way.

    rematch

the Pac vs Mayweather hype is dying down already. Boxing is moving on. I think Pac vs Margarito is a potential FOTY candidate and I also think that if Pac loses, its not a big deal.

You think this fight would have been signed if Margarito stood a chance?

I find it interesting that people act like pacquiao's going in there with jose luis castillo or somebody like that when in all actuality he's walking in there with a big ex-champ who has a chip on his shoulder and the heart of nothing less than a warrior.

    If Pac loses, he loses.

Seriously, when did losing a fight in the sport of boxing become so dramatic?

It's Floyd talk getting absorbed by his followers I'm telling ya......:-(

Margo is +600 and betting 500 on a win for him..my heart says he will win but my brain says otherwise..why??..well first, pacquiao its game and hot right now, also i thin its a possibility the fight is fix(this my humble opininon so dont sue)but arum can say to margo to relax and have since there will be a guarrantee 5 mill purse on his next fight...anyways im bettin...500=3000..right?

I think we have to look at the other side of the coin. If Tony wins, it's a sensational come back story, and Arum makes money off it.

Also, Pac plans to retire fairly soon. Margo has no plans for retirement.

Boxing has already took a big hit, 2 big hits to be precise, when its top 2 exponents couldnt get themselves into the ring together on 2 separate occassions.

    This fight is FIXED!!!

    No way Margarito wins!!!!

Arum will not let his cash cow lose. Margarito was picked to lose in exchange for being re-licensed!
