Lopez, although I do think Calzaghe's resume is better.

    Lopez.

They both had a long period of domination at one weight class and some success at a second but Calzaghe was only considered the #1 Super-Middle once he beat Lacy. Lopez got to #1 a lot quicker and is by far the greatest fighter in 105 lb history.

The main reason I rank Finito higher is, simply, his ability. To me he was a complete fighter, textbook perfect, and his technique was leagues above Joe's.

I agree that Saldivar has the better resume and can see you an Lora making a case for him being ranked higher, ability wise Lopez is greater than Saldivar.Id put Lopez at #4 among Mexico Atg. And Saldivar and Marquez around 9 and 10.

Marquez resume IMO is a little better than Saldivar and as for his ability hes about on par.

Marquez's best win is over a past prime and soft Marco Antonio Brarera. My top 5 Mexicans of all time are as follows.

    1. Julio Cesar Chavez
    2. Salvador Sanchez
    3. Ruben Olivares
    4. Vicente Saldivar
    5. Marco Antonio Barrera

Next would be the likes of Erik Morales, Carlos Zarate, Miguel Canto, and then Juan Manuel Marquez and Ricardo Lopez.

Gimme Lopez for a 1,000, Alex...
A 168lbs pound Ricardo Lopez would have been curtains for anyone. (P4P)

We already seen a lower weight Calzaghe, Segura dispatched him a couple weeks back.

:good If they were the same weight i could see Calzaghe being competetive(with his busy style) up until around the mid rounds when Lopez would repeatedly hurt him and pick him apart while brutalizing him for the next 3 rounds. Lopez ko9 or 10.

^ I put JMM on the number 10 spot, but honestly, there quite a few other mexican greats that can take that spot, but its very hard for to choose which one...JMM is one of those so thats why i put him on this list for now.

That is a real good list Anarci I think the real reason why Brits are big on Saldivar is because he dominated their hero Winstone.

I think that p4p Lopez is greater than Saldivar

It's not only that you misunderstood my point, it's that you misunderstood it so badly and so rashly, then scuttled off to make a thread about it without even waiting for me to clarify. Pretty poor.

For the record, I have always believed and will always believe that Ricardo Lopez is a vastly, vastly superior boxer to Joe Calzaghe. As I said on the other thread: not even close.

Why does everyone I see ranking Mexican fighters always place Sanchez above Olivares? I'm not saying I have Olivares ahead by much, nor do I think it's an injustice having Sal higher (not at all), but I do think it's odd how there seems to be an almost complete consensus over an issue which I think is very close to a 50-50 thing.

Why do you guys feel sure of having Sanchez the higher of the two?

I think cause actually alot of fans think Sanchez was even better than Chavez(ability wise) but that his resume wasnt long enough to put him over Julio. SO in many peoples eyes they feel he shouldnt be no lower than #2.
