My point is Tyson tried, even when he knew it was hopeless, Tua never even gave himself a small chance.

And I would have you know I was a world champ beating The Bear (Paddington's finest)! ;)

Well then I am in the debate, I beat Angol (26-0), Rocchigiani, Witherspoon and Wimpy Halstead (I won!!!). That is depth Mr President could only dream about!

This kind of Top Trumps comparison makes this look like a fairly even fight, but in reality it is anything but.

What you are actually looking at is a big gulf in class.

There is a reason why Tyson was a dominant champion, and Tua lost every time he stepped up.

Tua was a pressure fighter who had tremendous power and durability, but that is all that he was.

He lacked the stylistic nuance, training dedication, and willingness to take punishment, that would have been necessary to be great with his style.

This above all would make the fight much less competitive than you think.

To make matters worse, the stylistic dynamic favors Tyson as well.

When two swarmers collide, there are certain factors that can decide the outcome.

The man who gets off the starting blocks faster, tends to get the other guy first.

The man who is the better pure finisher tends to get the other guy first.

The man who has better defense in close tends to get the other guy first.

    Did that work against Douglas?Nope!
Tyson fans cum on his "brutal" skills! He got more respect for his bodyshape and training highlights than he deserved for his fighting!
Al that fast starting,defense....worked only on cameras and against cans!I ask you again that all those things you mentioned worked against Dozglas,Holyfield,Tucker...
    I do not thing so!
Tyson was dominant champ but when?In weak era of 80s against aged Holmes and acared LHW Spinks! When he stepped in 90s he got beaten!
I do not want even to imagine how much he would lost in 70s even better era of boxing!
Walcott treid to finish Marciano fast?Did that works?
Foreman also tried that on Ali!
Tysin tried that against McBride but it did not work!
Louis was great finisher but It did not work several times!
Dempsey was fast starter but Tunney got him!
Tyson chin was funny compared to Tuaman!
Tua is bigger, heavier and stronger man!He also has reach advantage!
    Tua had power and chin!
Tyson had great skills and speed which works against weak competiton and had bad chin and stamina!
Tua would hurt him very bad in later rounds!Holyfield spared with Tua!Go ask him to tell you who would win!
Not even stronger Lewis did not stand to trade blows with Tuaman but Tyson could?Compare their fighta with Lewis and decide!

Tua would be a punching bag for prime Tyson. Laughable matchup

Like, no I love this. For anyone to think Prime Tua would have more than a punchers against a prime Tyson is crazy at best. Prime Tyson was a machine. Speed, power, skills, defensively sound. Only a few ATG's would've been competitive/defeated prime Tyson. Tua, though his left hook ranks in the top 4-7 in division history . And a great chin, everything else about him was average at best.
Tyson fought fighters usually taller than him. Imagine how pleased he would be to look in the opposite corner and see a man his same height, with less reach.
Tyson would outclass Tua, punish him badly because of his ability to take punishment. Tyson probably wouldn't KO Tua outright. But I do see the referee stopping the fight whithin 10rds. Tua looking like someone jumped him with a baseball bat.

Douglas was a lot better than Tua, and a lot better suited to fighting Tyson stylistically.
Tucker only landed a few clean punches on Tyson in their entire fight!

Make no mistake Tyson's defense was in a different stratosphere to Tua's!
It takes a truly exceptional fighter, even to dominate a weak era.

That is why so few fighters have ever done it!
I don't think that Tua's chin was necessarily better.
Tua was fatter than Tyson, which is not exactly the same thing as being bigger.

Tyson actually had an inch in rach advantage over Tua.

Tua had power and chin, but they won't get you very far in boxing, if you don't have a lot of other things.

Honestly 3 tua detractors have gone too far debating that Tua had better chin than Tyson.
    It is just laughable

Buster Douglas was many things, but like Byrd and Tua are way down the list. Just physically he was different, Maybe it could be argued he had, when focused, a cunning like Byrd. But that is stretching an already abstract concept.

Tua had more robust frame than Tyson (just look at his legs) and he could carry fine more weight than Mike. Tyson was perfect at 216 and Tua was perfect at 226. He never could be ripped like Tyson because it is a genetic factor, does not matter the weight
