Going into their first fight Canelo had 51 fights behind him, GGG had 37. GGG didn't get overly close to that amount of fights in his entire career. There's that context again.

Hagler retired because he knew age AND wear and tear from 67!!!!!! fights had caught up with him. It's on record even before he fought Leonard. Of course it was going to be tough moving forward, he was noticeably declined and had plenty of scar tissue built up.

It is amazing what Crawford, Hopkins and Foreman have pulled off. Hopkins is easily more outstanding than those other two if one is harping on about age etc.

GGG would have been a good match with all his challengers. He may have beaten them, he may not have. His pre title op as well? Basically what you are saying is that GGG would have went 67-0. I'm going to pull you up right there, that's pure fantasy. He had 45 pro fights in his life. He's going to have an extra 22, all wins while not losing any of the first 45? I'll call BS.

He's going to have to cram 22 extra fights into 2 extra years. He's going to have to fight live dogs early in his career.....and so much more.

Talking about beating each others opposition, how cruisy would it have been for Hagler breezing thru GGG's lot? I didn't realize how bloody weak his first 30 or more fights were. Hagler would have had a field day with this lot. He'd hardly be losing and drawing to Canelo too.

 

He might be losing or drawing to Canelo if he couldn't stop Canelo, with those judges in Vegas. Could you imagine the Canelo that fought GGG or Golovkin himself drawing with Vito Antuofermo? I dont see a single fighter on Haglers resume that would make me nervous for Prime GGG. Actually, I take that back, Hearns, Mugabi, Duran, and Leonard are serious challenges. Hearns, just because he is Hearns, undefeated Mugabi was a monster, but it would have ended like the Hagler fight, and Leonard because of his craftiness, and Duran because of his cageyness as well. Oh, I'm only bringing up worth while former Hagler apponents, not just someone who isn't note worthy. Oh, and your right, Hagler would definitely defeat Golovkins challengers and pretty easily until he ran into prime GGG fight night Jacobs, and Canelo, and his infamous judges. Oh, and Golovkin tore through all of his challengers as well.

 

Don't forget that GGG ages in these fights. He gets the extra wear and tear of Hagler and over that shorter span.

GGG's a fine fighter, but over it's entirety with the same timeline it's a tough ask for anyone. Hagler took two genuine losses, one a flogging to an on fire talented contender.

The Antuofermo draw was very controversial, like the first Canelo fight for GGG.

I still don't think GGG is the fighter Hagler is, as i explained early in the thread.
