Again, he could not use the same strategy bcuz he wasn't as bulky at that time. Only speculation if he could've slugged it out w Tyson then but I still think Tyson had a better shot at that time. Holyfield just wasn't as tested at the weight then remember this is Holyfield pre Bowe-Mercer-Holmes-Foreman. No I'm not saying that Holyfield would've got treated like Stewart, I only pointed out that performance from Mike bcuz he was supposed to face Holyfield right after.

Just popping to remind you that he beat one guy on the top ten list in the 90s, and he was losing that fight.

I also have no idea who Foreman was competitive against who was also competitive with the Klitschko's.

That was the best Holyfield. Better than the 30 yr old that fought Bowe.. right before Douglas got smoked. Too much offense for any Tyson, with the heart right behind it. Can't you see those laser uppercuts? Left and right hand?

It's never Holyfields heart I question its if he had the durability around 90/91 to slug it out w Tyson. That wouldn't b wise for him to do especially if he couldn't bully him in clinches like he did when they did fight. He needed those fights I mentioned b4 to gain the experience that helped him once they fought. Not saying Holyfield couldn't pull it off but I think ur underestimating how dangerous Tyson was then n how Holyfield wasn't as battle tested at the weight then.

LOL, Tyson spent 3 plus years in jail and fought a grand total of 8 rounds against cream puffs in 4 years when he met Holyfield.............he was washed up beyond washed up unless you think a fighter gest better in jail..............and Holyfield threw the entire kitchen sink at him while barelly getting a standing TKO in the eleventh hour.

But that is the only two fights Holyfield can hang his hat on because he is 1- 2 against Bowe, 0-2 against Lewis, 1-1 against glass cannon Moorer and 1-1-1 against Huggy Bear Ruiz.............he lost more than he won. Fact.

I didn't say he dominated the era, I said he was competitive, as an old guy back for a gimmick.

Competitive doesn't mean win every fight, it means he belonged in the ring and was a threat to the guys he faced. He beat a guy who beat Holyfield in the mid 90s and won a HW title, if that was all he did his whole career that would be memorable.

    Food for thought…
    Wlad was competitive with Joshua
    Holyfield was competitive with Valuev
Bugner was competitive in the late 80s
Patterson had success in the 70s
Archie Moore won fights in the 60s

It goes on and on. It’s normal for stand outs from one heavyweight era to pop up as decent but diminished versions of themselves 1-2 eras down the line.

I’ve seen prime Holmes but I haven’t seen him beat anyone even close to the level of those guys.

I'd like to add that Tyson n his camp thought Tyson would've beaten Holyfield w ease especially after seeing Bowe stop him. That ofc backfired and I do think Tysons wins over Stewart n Ruddock(x2) trump anything he did after prison. Best fighter was Bruno and he wasn't gonna beat any version of Tyson. A reason him n his camp did not want to fight Lewis as they were cherrypicking what they thought were easy fights to make Tyson look good.

You can't change who is or isn't in your era.

True. I’m not saying it’s his fault I’m just saying you have no proof he would fair well against a top level opponent.

Holmes didn't even fight the best of his era.
