Another vote for Povetkin. If the Klitschkos hadn't been around he would have ruled his era and people would be calling him an ATG.

Sasha would, more varied arsenal and plenty of pop.

Except, Frazier did put him down?

This is one of those incredibly balanced matchups that might end up being a draw. I think if we dropped Povetkin into the 70s he'd be right where Bugner was.

I've sometimes wondered, though, whether Povetkin is one of those fighters like Holyfield was reputed to be, who fights down to the level of his opponents.

In which case he wins a close decision.

I don't think so. Povetkin had some off nights, but generally he ran through weaker fighters.

I'm thinking in particular of Huck.

I think Povetkin had an off night. But, we should also acknowledge that Huck is nobody's cupcake. He was a multi-defence champion at cruiser and a very rough, strong and intense dude. People seem to underrate him nowadays but in his prime he was pretty darn tough.

I think many are underrating Joe here. On his game, a hard night work for anyone. Even off his game he's going the distance with most. Bugner could nick this on points, and would if it was 15 rounds...

Frazier hurt him badly with a left hook but chose not to knock him out.
