Calzaghe. Bad style match up for Ward.

I’m undecided. Both were superb at super middle but for different reasons. Both would provide the other with the challenge of a constantly moving target. Calzaghe was busier but Ward was probably more efficient. I think this goes to the cards and is pretty close.

I voted for Joe, but pretty much agree with you.

I'm confident it would go the distance, confident it would be close, I suspect Ward would edge the first half of the fight and Calzaghe the second, and suspect whatever the official decision, it would be hotly debated, with some preferring Ward's lower volume, but cleaner shots, and some preferring the vice versa.

It looks like Mayweather vs Pacquaio, even tho Joe was not as good as Manny.
Ward shuts him down just the same.

    I dunno about that.

Hopkins has somewhat of a similar style to Ward and he only lost by SD whilst also dropping Calzaghe in the process.

Ward would be considerably younger and fresher than a 40+ year old Hopkins.

It would be a sloppy awful fight. Calzaghe had a few stinker fights. The David Starie fight should be wiped from all circulation and banned. Ward was also a better dirty fighter. It's hard to call. I actually thought Hopkins beat Calzaghe. Well I had it 6-6 and had Hopkins winning because of the extra point for the draw.

Hopkins did put on a masterclass of counter punching that night and he is a way better counter puncher than Ward. I'd say that Hopkins would beat Ward also.

I just find Ward Calzaghe is just too tough to call.

Hopkins was holding a lot. Because of the manner he fought, I just do not thought Bernard deserve the nod. But it was a very close fight. And giving it to the Hopkins by 1 point is not unreasonable

Best fighter at the time of the fight Calzaghe would face.

Close fight but Joe was faster than anyone Ward fought and Ward's dirty tactics would not work in his favor. Same with Hopkins.

Ward is a more cerebral, athletic and stronger version of Hopkins. I think he would mug Calzaghe and win a close decision.

I think it would depend on who the judges were, this would be a close fight and probably hard to score.
